    I have a C799tu with a T2390 cpu, is it possible to upgrade this to a T8100?

Also where do I get windows XP drivers from if I want to downgrade?
And is it possible to upgrade to vista 64 bit straight from vista 32 bit home premium?

    greets everyone...

i receive today my new compaq c766la...with a celeron 550 processor skt P and the Crestline GM965 chipset...I read this thread and i don't understand some lines...

drmega updates your processor, but they have a pentium dual core...with a Bios ready for that...The Celeron 550 is a Single Core, and don't have set's ... also is a "Virtualization Technology", or "Processor C4 State"...

i don't know if these options are necessary for the processor runs... and i don't know too if hp makes a latest bios revision for recognize the steppings of the c2d's in bios with single core's builds.

    If that's possible...?

    Best Regards.

you should have the same motherboard. so it's as simple as upgrading the bios if you need to and dropping in a different socket p that's supported by gm965.

DarkFox, all you have to do, is replace the cpu with a C2D and you will be fine, or a bios update and then a penryn. Don't worry about current setup configs.

    Hi,

    1st time post here.

I have some question to ask.

My notebook model is compaq presario C778tu.

    1. I had check my motherboard bios using cpu-z, it stated that is F.32 version, do i need to flash this bois to F33?

    2. I consider upgrade my ram to 3GB, is that any performance issue on Dual Channnel? Which one combo is better to install (2 x 1GB ram), or (1 x 1GB and 1 x 2GB)? Is the Kingston brand ok?

    3. Also consider to upgrade the internal harddisk, can this Seagate Momentus 5400.4 ST9250827AS,SATA300/NCQ,250 GB, 8 MB Cache,5400 rpm suitable for my notebook?
