I thought the new Elitebooks, don't have one yet, don't look like the grainy previous ones. How is the anti-glare on the M6700 you got compared to the 8760w?

I have a 8760w and a M6700 and just out of the box alone, the M6700 looks better than a calibrated 8760w.

Still, both are better screens than most anything else for the size, so if HP is your only option, you still won't have a bad screen

Not sure about the grain on the 8760w DC2 that Rukes is suggesting; there is absolutely none, even at the maximum brightness with your eyes a few cm from the screen on background colors where grain is most visible. I agree that's it a big issue on the 8560w though.

There is, you just don't have something to compare it to. I agree the 8760w has MUCH MUCH less grain than the 8560w, but once I got the M6700 it became a little more apparent on the 8760w. Still, it's a bit negligible, but it is there.

There are companies that will re-coat a screen for a fee. Online, I have come across two such companies over the years.

[Edit addition:] The idea presented by the companies was to change from matte to glossy or from glossy to matte. Maybe some companies have more than one type of matte coat available, or a matte coat that will not grain at any dot pitch.

Is the Dell IPS screen capable of the REC 709 standard and does it have enough adjustments for proper calibration?

Does Dell even offer their IPS (PremierColor) at this time??? I've looked on their website and it's not there any more, not in the M4700, although they do have it in their M6700, but that's a *load* to carry!!!

    OOTM

EDIT: As of today, 2013 Feb 02, Dell is still not offering the IPS on the M4700. A pity, but life goes on!
