Default compaq 2510p - big BIOS problem

    Hi guys,

I have a big bios problem and hope someone here can help me.

I got an old 2510p. When I turned it on, there was an error message:
    Code:
Your BIOS failed to complete the update. Please ensure
that you follow the correct procedures and try again.
This may require two sequential BIOS updates to complete
    the process.
Nevertheless, it started windows without a problem.

But because of that message I thought updating the bios might be a good idea. So I updated the bios with HPQFlash and BIOS F.30. It did something and then wanted to reboot. But after doing that, the same error message showed up and after a few seconds it rebooted again, and again, and again ...
So now after turning it on, it shows the HP logo, after that the error message and after a few seconds it reboots. Pressing F9 or F10 or anything else does nothing.

I found the how-to recover bios forum entry. So I got a USB Floppy drive, put the 68MSP.bin file on a diskette and started the 2510p while pressing win+b. the laptop started in this recovery mode, I could hear it accessing the floppy drive for a second, but that’s it. After a about minute it reboots and nothing has changed. I tried it with several bios versions (F.30, F.10, F.0F), I tried it w/ and w/o hdd connected, but it does every time the same thing.

So now I don't know what to do. Did I do something wrong? Any suggestions?
Could it be possible to flash the bios directly e.g. with that device Proj17-SPI bios programmer ?

Please help me, I'm really frustrated right now

    Best Regards,
    Peter

Meanwhile I build up the SPI programmer, it works fine with SPIPGM. But I noticed, and read about it somewhere afterwards, that flashing the 1 MB bin file into the 4 MB chip doesn't work.
So now what I need is a 4 MB bios dump, preferably of version F.10 (modded or not, I don't care).
Can anybody help me out here? I would appreciate it very much, because I want this damn thing to work.

Dear Peter, I faced just the same problem, Is there any other option to solve it? Or first the floppy and then the BIOS programming?

Well the only more or less successful way for me was to flash a modified bios dump with an external programmer (see my posts in the 'owners loung'e thread). But everytime I have to press win+left+right in order to boot the laptop.
So if it doesn't work with an external floppy drive, I think the only thing you can do is either what i did, or you get a new programmed bios chip e.g. from Grains BIOS Repair. But even with a new chip, I don't think it is guaranteed to work, it still can be a hardware fault causing these problems.
