    timohour,
thanks so much for this thread. it's much easier to follow than the one on the tonymacx86 forum.

i just purchased the *274 cable (alinc charges shipping now, btw) and the RGBLED v.4 screen ($10 cheaper now!). hopefully the installation goes smoothly.

one thing i was curious about on the other forum was all the talk about DSDT. is that only relevant to those who have OS X installed? do i need to worry about that if i'm just using windows 7?

    thanks again!

Yeah you guessed right. DSDT is only for OSX. Since you are using Windows 7 it is just a Plug N Play solution. As soon as you boot with your new screen everything will perfect.

Thanks for the update on the prices, I will revise my first post.

    Waiting for your results!!!

    @pulfiction

I used the old screen to replace my sisters' broken one, so in case of warranty issues I will install my old one on my laptop. I don't think that if motherboard or hdd or odd goes bad your service department will claim that your upgrade caused the problem. At least no sane person would say that. You can also check with them to be 100% sure.

    Waiting for your results too!!!

I myself do a lot of video production & editing so I'd really like to experience all the detail of a 1080p capture the fullest.

    That's all for now,
    Cheers.
I absolutely recommend the AUO B156HW01 V.4. It is hard to believe that it is a TN panel, the colors are extremely vibrant and accurate. It is not a wide gamut display, so you won't have to worry about color correction with your editing. 1080p videos look incredible. At $89.99 it's $10 less than I paid and that's a steal.

Anandtech's review is what had turned me onto this display, but I never dreamed I'd be able to use it on any Probook sized laptop until this thread.

I've had this laptop since August 2011 and it has been great except for the original screen. Following the instructions from this site, the HP video on removing the keyboard and the top cover, it was easy to remove the screen bezel and hinges to change this screen.

I purchased the AUO B156HW01 V.4 screen from laptopscreen.com and the cable from alinc. This has been the best upgrade I've made on any of my computers. This screen is brilliant and clear.

If you've felt that your HP Probook 4530s was a good purchase but the screen left something to be desired, I know you'll be extremely happy if you change out your screen to this one.

I feel like I cheated HP, buying this computer for 599, installed the new screen for about 100 and thinking they could've sold this thing for 800-900 with this screen.

Thank you Timohour for this great thread.

    Happy to be of assistance

After all these positive comments about the AUO screen you guys are tempting me to change my LG with this.... I hope I can resist

side question, but does anyone know if it's possible to upgrade the optical drive to blu-ray relatively easily?

PLS do not hijack this thread...

Choose any 12.7 mm SATA bluray. Remove the bottom cover and the DVD screw, and replace the bluray with the original DVD. If you have further question refer to the 4430s/4530s Owners lounge section.

PLS KEEP THIS THREAD ONLY ON SCREEN UPGRADES ON THE 4530s!

    Thanks!

I was about to order the screen when I found out I needed that cable from Alinc aswell (got 1366x768 screen). $53 for the cable, $44 for shipping and $30 for tax = $130 for the cable only. I have an old Asus G72GX laptop with broken CPU on it and 1600x900 display, can I use cable from that? Was also wondering if it was a cheaper place to get the cable to europe? Thanks.

Scout for a local dealer. I found one in my country giving it for ~20€...
Does you G72GX have a 15.6 LED screen? If yes it will work.
