But apparently I'm not allowed to do so, not even a link back to our site.

    Just Google AnandTech + B156HW01 V.4
    Thanks LSB for your help.

So that's why I can't find your post.

Hey- Great posts here, any idea when that video is coming back up?

Also, my buddy has an Elitebook 8460p, and was also thinking of getting a new screen (HP-Compaq ELITEBOOK 8460P replacement Laptop LCD Screen $59.99 Brand-new screens (never used).)
Do we know if this would also need the cable?

    Re: 8460P Cable
As we offer only the one single screen for this computer (1600 x 900, Matte),
I don't think there will be a need for cable,
    however what's the point?
Is your buddy's screen broke? Because we'll send out an exact same panel he already has.

I'm not the most comfortable with tinkering around laptop internals, so I ordered the B156HW01 V.4 with the cable mentioned in the first post and dropped it off at my local repair shop. I have the 2310M version of the ProBook, so I grabbed an i7 2630QM and asked the shop to put that in as well.

Just got it back today and that LCD is beautiful, the colors are more vibrant than any TN panel I've seen. The CPU upgrade works perfectly as well, definitely worth the $160 upgrade, especially since the i3 can be sold for around $70-80.

Thanks for this thread and information, I finally have the perfect laptop!

Really happy it worked out for you too. Since manufacturers don't built laptops exactly as we like them, we have to do that on our own. That's the main reason I upgraded to 1080p and i7.

Hi, everyone and timohour may I say that this is a - one awesome thread!

It's been half a year now since I bought my 4530s and honestly it's been all around a real treat to use(after a horrifying experience with a Pavilion dv2000 that in the end I just through off a cliff). And I know it's a sin to complain, but if I had to be absolutely nitpicking about it: I'd have to say that the screen most definitely is its weak spot(that of course being the 768p HD one). Now, from the user manual I already guessed that I probably could go through with a DIY upgrade to 900p. Although, I'm certain I wouldn't ever had bothered doing that just because it wouldn't really make that much of a difference, I think(+no guarantee it would work).

However, last Thursday I came across this thread & by today already got myself a 646274-001. And now, of course, I'm browsing around for a good 1080p display. You suggested AUO B156HW01 V.4 as the best one out there at the moment, is that still the case? Also could there be any compatibility issues going from LG to a AUO display(are screws the same)? I understand that ZipXavier had his 4530s upgraded to it, does it work alright, would you suggest to others as well?
I myself do a lot of video production & editing so I'd really like to experience all the detail of a 1080p capture the fullest.

    That's all for now,
    Cheers.

AUO B156HW01 V.4 IS still the best one and will be the best for a non-IPS screen for a good while. I doubt anything better will be made in the TN panel sector.
Going from LG to AUO is a non-issue, provided that you do have a FHD cable.

    Thanks,
    That's settled then - I'm going for AUO B156HW01 V.4.
And I'll post to confirm when it arrives if the upgrade's been successful.

    Sorry for my absense.
Yeah as LSB says, off course it will work provided you will use a FHD cable. As stated on the first post every 15.6'' LED 40pin-left connector screen will work. Happy to help in any other issue

Yeah, another thing I was wondering about, could this upgrade void warranty?
I mean if something else, like HDD or motherboard goes wrong, could service people then reply it's my fault for making such uncertified upgrades. Should I save my old display for all 3year warranty time or can I resell it to someone?
