Yeah, I got options for AHCI, VT-d w/ I/O, TXT and a few more weird goodies.

Good to know that the Extreme Editions don't meet the criteria (which is weird, considering they are expensive and good for corporate power users).

I you use LoJack or Computrace, two separate paying services that helps to monitor your laptop's location in case it goes missing or stolen, then that will enable the HP ProtectTools to also enable the detection software as well.

If you don't use LoJack or Computrace, there is no need to use it.

Does all HP laptops comes with Kensington lock slot (not sure if all lock slots are standard for notebooks), what happens if i were to use other locks from other providers ?

    Should i go for a Nvidia FX3800m or a Quadro 5000m price difference about $ 560.03 (USD)...
What i read about in other forums regarding Nvidia FX3800m says that it doesn't really have GPU functions to it, though i don't really get it anyway haha. The only real deal with GPU is only with 5000m.

    What do you guys think?

My 8540W was delivered Dec 13 and it still shows as in the picking stage. When I phoned in, though, I got accurate dates from the reps.

Yes comes with a Kensington Lock. IDK if it supports non-Kensington Locks.

well, may end up with an 8740w after all - when they told me it would take a month and a half to get it, and not the week and a half I was first told, I said to cancel the order - they never responded to my request to cancel it, but shipped the laptop so I'll get it two weeks after I ordered it

Hi all. Ordered a refurb 8740w from HP last week on the recommendation of knight427. The overall ordering process was great, with our sales rep being polite and helpful. Unfortunately, the folks at FedEx seem to have lost track of my package somewhere along the way, and are now running a trace to see if they can find it. No fun.

Anyway, provided it ever reaches my front door, I'll let you all know how it goes. I've never had a laptop above general Inspiron quality, and I've always loved the classic business style in HP's laptops, so this wait is killing me. Here's hoping it not only reaches me safe, sound, and soon, but is worth the delay.

I posted this in a different thread, but in case anyone in the future has this problem but only searches this thread, I'll add it here, too...

Regarding the issue with the color space drop down only listing ST-Factory-1, ST-Factory-2, etc, instead of AdobeRGB, sRGB, etc. After sending mine in for analysis, here's what my rep just told me:

"At this point, it appears that a few panels may have escaped the factory without being calibrated properly. Yours is the only one that has been brought to our attention to this point. Any others that you are in communication with that have run across the same problem should call HP tech support and request that the panel be replaced through the normal warranty process (mail in to HP repair depot or onsite, as per their warranty)."

I'm supposed to be getting mine back today. I'll be interested to see if there is a noticeable (if any) difference with the new panel.
