Need to physically disable 2 of my processor cores and possibly Hyperthreading.
I have an asus g73jh which has an i7 720qm and I need to disable 2 of the cores as well as hyperthreading. After using a custom bios (will post below) and using its new options to configure this, windows 7 still shows 8 threads when it ought to show 2. I really need to at least turn off 2 of my processors in order to OC the other 2 better. Other G73jh users have been able to do this for console emulation with great results.
Is there some way I can do this?

That's why.
If the BIOS isn't disabling cores, I don't think there's another way to do it.

Is speedstep & C1E disabled along with any other CPU state options?

Re: Need to physically disable 2 of my processor cores and possibly Hyperthreading.
run msconfig from the startbar, then click the boot tab, then click the Advanced options button.
now tick the number of processors and select how many you would like.
also realtemp can disable/enable turbo from windows.Alienware M18x [2760][32GB][2x6990][256GB 830][1TB]

Re: Need to physically disable 2 of my processor cores and possibly Hyperthreading.
Or go back in time before computers? Really? Multiple cores are the future to more efficient computing. We should want to increase their number, not decrease them.
Besides, if what the OP proposed was more effective, don't you think someone would have though of it by now?Holder of the Standard Repository of All Knowledge and Information
