    Default T420s questions

    Hi there everyone.

I have a couple of questions for you guys because I've recently purchased a second-hand T420s and can't find any adequate answers online.

    1) How can I go about getting an eGPU set-up for this laptop? I've already looked at the eGPU thread but would like more insight from someone who has done it with this laptop.

    2) How can I be certain that I have the Nvidia NVS4200M? When I run dxdiag it only displays the intel graphics and if I go into the nvidia control panel it recognizes the nvs4200m. What the hell?

    3) Why does my keyboard randomly beep when I type? It happens randomly throughout my typing and I'm a fairly speedy typist.

    4) Can this laptop be upgraded with an SSD? I'm thinking of upgrading this badboy with the 256gb Crucial M4 or Vertex 3 some time soon, but I've recently read something about the drive having to be 7mm thick. Is it possible to keep my current drive and add an SSD? Or, would I have to remove the current drive?

Thanks a lot for spending some of your time helping me out ^_^!

Hmm I found out that the M4 and 830 will work. I don't need that question to be solved anymore, thanks!

Go to device manager and check under display adapters to see if you have the NVS 4200M. T420s supports Optimus, aka it'll switch between Nvidia and Intel automatically.

What do you mean your keyboard beeps? Are you sure you aren't spamming the keyboard (overloading the keyboard buffer).
