    What is the difference between:

    Intel Core i5/i7 Mobile Processor
    and
    Intel 2nd generation Core i5/i7 Mobile Processor
    ???

    1st Gen is Nehalem based.

    2nd Gen is SandyBridge based.

    Work a little bit differently with turbo and bclk, 2nd Gen has some new instructions. See "Intel Ark" for specs.

    Basically, 2nd gen is faster and better on battery. Get it unless it's obscenely more expensive than the 1st gen.

    Extreme Edition has unlocked multipliers for overclocking on top of a higher TDP power threshold and higher multiple clock frequency. It is only useful if you are an enthusiast (overclocking fanatic) or a CPU powerhouse user. Otherwise, it is not worth the investment.
