Re: AMD Fusion Info Thread
Ontario next to a coin:

9W Ontario for netbooks, thin form devices
18W Zacate for notebooks and desktops

Re: AMD Fusion Info Thread
I so hope AMD kicks Intel's in the CULV/Netbook platform. Intel's new Core i CULV processors are worse than the CULV Core 2 Duos!

Re: AMD Fusion Info Thread
not really.. battery life is slightly less but performance wise , the i5 and i7 CULVS are way more powerful than core 2 duos..

Re: AMD Fusion Info Thread
Hmm, you'd think the TDP would be lower for both the single and dual cores, considering Bobcat is supposed to be sub 1 watt capable.

Re: AMD Fusion Info Thread
They're both dual-cores.
9W is for a dual-core with an 80SPU IGP at 40nm...and initial reports are that Zacate will be the same but with higher clocks.

I wouldn't have minded if Zacate did double up on the Ontario hardware though...a low power quad-core with a 160SPU IGP would make for a nice home server APU.

Re: AMD Fusion Info Thread
How much power does an 80 SPU GPU have?

Re: AMD Fusion Info Thread
Fusion is a pretty neat concept, but AMD needs to clean up their act and come out with more powerful solutions on the mobile market.
I applaud them for being energy efficient and all, but being a generation behind behind Intel in performance is a bit discouraging to say the least.
I would love for AMD to make a comeback with solutions that will rival Intel at least to a degree (even if the Intel solutions are still say 10 to 15% faster in contrast, it would be a worthy competition for a much lower price tag).
Right now, the AMD mobile quad core at 2Ghz is barely able to rival an i7 620m in multithreaded tasks, which is not a good thing because it's essentially comparing a dual core vs a quad core.Acer Aspire 5930G - 15"

Re: AMD Fusion Info Thread
I don't know how many times it has to be said, AMD is not currently competing with Intel on a pure performance platform. They are trying to appeal to the mainstream, non-enthusiasts segment that doesn't need the power of an i7 or want to pay the price for one. In that regard they are doing well.
