-25% at 1080p but probably more at 768p or 900p since powerfull cpus tend to boost fps at lower resolutions.

Not to mention the minimum framerate with the core i3 2310m which is scary to say the least 2,2 fps...

Everyone keeps comparing it with a dual core Intel, but in reality the AMD is a true quad core which makes a significant difference compared with hyperthreading which offers at best a 10% improvement. I found the Llano on par if not faster than the i5 Sandy Bridge, and is likely the case with the Trinity vs. i5 Ivy Bridge. I turn HT off on my laptop because it only adds a little bit of heat and offers zero improvements that I can tell.

The Trinity might overclock very well which could raise the fps. Either way, we need to see actual benchmarks from a Trinity/7970m system before we can compare anything accurately.

The thing about Trinity is that it's not a true quad core either. I'm sure you've already heard about modules and how they share resources and stuff.

An Intel i5 is a dual core that uses simultaneous multithreading (SMT, AKA hyperthreading) while a Trinity A10 is essentially a dual core with clustered multi-threading (CMT, AMD calls the cores "modules"). CMT scales better than SMT, but both of are inferior (in terms of scaling) to having 4 "true" cores a la Llano.

According to Anandtech, a Trinity a10-4600m actually has worse multithreaded performance than a Llano a8-3520m.

All I know is hyperthreading makes nary a difference in any benchmarks I've run or games I've played.

In any case, the Trinity is not shaping up to be as powerful as I had hoped. Its GPU performance is quite stellar, but otherwise, a bit disappointed compared with Llano.

Haven't you run Cinebench? I'm pretty sure it makes a difference there. I haven't really tried many benchmarks, but we use it on our CPU farm at work and the effect with Sandy Bridge E is about 25-30%. It is not like having an extra core and makes monitoring difficult, but the performance improvement is not negligble.

It is negligible. Like 5-10% improvement at best. Perhaps when properly coded for multiple threads in certain scenarios like a Cinebench benchmark. Otherwise you won't notice any difference in performance for daily tasks/apps/games.

Does anyone have any idea of when we'll start seeing these in the wild?

June 20th is when HP Sleekbooks with Trinity are out, iirc.

It was told right after May 15th, what is not happened at all. Wonder why are these delays...
Until here is a new review with A8-4500M in crossfire.
