You can use window's built in disk management tool.

Re: Seagate Momentus XT Hybrid HDD w/ built-in 4GB SSD
I have the 500gb xt with 4gb ssd. I did not notice any difference in speed. Waste of money for me. I will be looking to get a full SSD on my next laptop.

Re: Seagate Momentus XT Hybrid HDD w/ built-in 4GB SSD
The noise has been covered many times in past post. This is a hard drive, not an SSD. If you keep banging the thing around you may have a head crash, as in any spinner, if you exceed a certain g force.
That said, mine makes that sound, if i'm rough with it..so I don't. I have had great use in almost 2 years of service, with 3 years left for the SSD to come down further in prices
I have two wd blues collecting dust but serve in external cases now.

Yes, old good software, but no need as per tijo. Use W7 tools but you may want to read up on the procedures and back up ur good stuff just in case.

Re: Seagate Momentus XT Hybrid HDD w/ built-in 4GB SSD
I just had one momentus xt in my lap which has only one hDD bay. I'm in love. Threw my low capacity ssds at garbarge. Computer starts within 30 secs, 500GB of pure happiness.
I had a clicking noise due to this damn useless APM thing but solved it and now the HDD is silent.Ideapad Z500 // Core i3 2348M (2,3 ghz) // 635M GT (630M GT) // 4 Go 1333 // W8
Mat 768p screen, alu finish and backlit keyboard. That's why.
