Default Intel Celeron SU2300 vs. 743

I'm considering getting an Acer 1410 for a lightweight highly portable machine.
    There are two processor options

    Intel Celeron SU2300
    Intel Celeron 743

Can anyone elaborate on any real-world performance differences with Windows-7

SU2300 will give you a lot more battery life and will be a lot more efficient

The celeron runs hot, eats watts, and is a budget-oriented chip

The su2300 is pretty much the dual core 743, so decide for yourself.

Where do you come up with this?

Forgot to mention, they are both single-core processors. If you fill out the "What Notebook Should I Buy" FAQ we can help you better

I posted the wrong thing so changed it to that before I went back and edited it.

But literally everything you have said about both processors is wrong other than saying the celeron is a budget chip.

Both the 743 and su2300 use the exact same chip, the revision R0 penryn/wolfdale 3MB core ubiquitous throughout the core 2 line. The only difference between them is the 743 is single core with a 6.5x multiplier and the su2300 is dual core with a 6x multiplier.

SU2300 is an ULTRA LOW VOLTAGE processor while the Celeron is NOT.

I have a notebook with the celeron and I have a 5810 with a su2700 which is a higher clocked su2300. Care to prove me wrong?

    The 743 is single-core, the SU2300 is dual-core.

Go with the SU2300. HD video will playback better, multitasking will perform better, and overall everything will be smoother.

Do you know which video codecs allow for multiple cores to be used?
