    sort of.

I did try a pin mod to my ram, let me find the thread for you.

While I look for it, let me tell you that in the end the mod failed because the WP pin was used as a thermal pin.
And the WP was done internally in my ram. i believe you would get the same result.

It's possible the WP pin mod would work on older ram, but I doubt it would work with the santa rosa chipset (I assume you have).

    ok here is the thread:
how to flash ram SPD when it seems to be read-only?

But I wouldn't even bother trying it, big waste of time.

I think there is another kind of WP, it's supposed to be permanent SW WP.
Perhaps we have this kind of WP.
incidently, I was just reading the SPD datasheets I have tonight.
I will read through them again to see if there is any other way to dissable WP.
I'll keep you updated on this, but I don't expect anything.

One thing you could do is use memset to change some timmings (not CAS).

Also if you can buy one stick of ram and flash that, then you can boot with the new stick + one old stick and they will work at the new timmings even though one of the sticks would still have WP.
Since ram always runs at the slowest SPD config out of the two different sticks.

actually after reading the spd datasheet again, I think the reason that my WP pin mod failed was because of this:

Permanent software write protection is enabled by sending a PERMANENTLY SET
WRITE PROTECTION (PSWP) instruction to device address 0110. This feature enables
the lower half of the array (bytes 0–127) to be permanently write protected. The EEPROM
will no longer acknowledge the 0110 control byte after the write protect register has been
programmed. Permanent software write protection cannot be reversed by powering
down the device or attempting to drive WP to Vdd.
    EDIT:

    But I have an idea:
    1. Do the WP pin mod again.
    2. This time tape all of the pins on the ram except the SPD pins.
    3. Boot with a good stick of ram.
    4. Hot plug the modded stick.
    5. Try flashing the modded stick.

It may work. But I'm not really happy to try again before I finish researching this.

hmm, welp i tried that also, i turned all the timings down to what they should have been if @ 400mhz, cept the cas cuz it wouldnt change it. and unfortunatly it didnt help any... sooo... its either the cas killin me, or maybe i just hit my cpu's limit.

250bus is solid, 255 will bsod after a few hours of load.

could there be any possible mod to increase the mem and/or cpu voltage a little?

Have you used rmclock to increase CPU voltage? The wall you're hitting could be either due to RAM or the cpu. With more cpu voltage you'll know if it's the CPU or not.

hmm, havnt tried yet, didnt know it would allow me to do that?
lemme fire it up once and see wat i can do...

    EDIT:
Welp i loaded it up, and went to cpu info page and it shows my max voltage to be 1.175,
and my current volt is also at 1.175.

so i dont think theres anything else i can do?
    unless u know sumthin i don't!

    EDIT 2:
ok now ;lookin at the graphs, i'm watching the volt just to 1.275 every so often for just a quick sec or so...
AND its even jumping to the 11x multi every so often for quick blips!??!?!! i can see the mhz jump for that sec as well.

how is this happening? 10x is suppost to be my max?
so its doing it somehow? for sumthing..... if only i could force the 1.275 sumhow

    it's IDA.

It temporarily overclocks your CPU to the next multi and it makes one core idle.

It's good for single threaded aps.

How do you think I got 2.92ghz in my CPUz validation.
    it's 11x 265mhz...

Anyway, you can help me on the following thread to try to get IDA to be always on and not dissable 1 core:
Possible to unlock mobile CPU multi?

Now there is a hardware mod you can do to increase the voltage.
It's a simple CPU pin mod.
    Here is the guide:

hmm, i lookt there, and it seems there only showing how to UNDERvolt the cpu. which isnt what i want. unless i missed it...

overvolting would be simmilar, I can tell you what you should connect.
I will upload some usefull info in 1 min.
