Default Mobile Intel(R) 4 Series Express Chipset Family's memory

    Hi,
I got this laptop with 3Go RAM. For the video card It has a Mobile Intel(R) 4 Series Express Chipset Family. The thing is I don't know if the video card has its own dedicated memory or if it drills down my RAM?

    Thanks for your enlightenment.

    What notebook was it again?

All integrated GPU's take use of the ram. Though it shouldn't be noticeable.

Thank you for your quick reply!
It is an Acer 5735z. The acer integrated crapware says :
    Video Device
    Device Name
Mobile Intel(R) 4 Series Express Chipset Family
    Total Available Graphics Memory
    1308 MB
    Dedicated Video Memory
    64 MB
    System Video Memory
    64 MB

    But it also says :
    System Memory
    3072 MB

    and :
    Current Memory Size
    3072 MB
    Memory Type
    DDR2
    Slot 1 Installed Size
    2048 MB
    Slot 2 Installed Size
    1024 MB

So i'm quite confused... From my 3Go do i have only 2Go remaining for the stuff that matters for me (I don't do gaming or stuff like that)?

If it is an Intel GPU, then you are definitely using shared RAM. You have no dedicated VRAM.

It will basically only take what it needs from your main RAM as it needs it.

What do you mean with "Go" ? GB?

However, even if it says 1308MB it's only that much as it can use as maximum, but it will never come close to use that. And if you never play games, it won't use anything more than those 64MB. Even if you would play games, you wouldn't notice that the GPU would take up any resources anyhow.

So no need to worry about anything!

    Ok thank you guys!
Yes Go means GB sry... I just wanted to be sure my computer would still be up and running in a few years but if I still have my 3 Gig free, then I guess it will still be ok since 32bit OS can't bear more than 3Gig (and if vista takes up to 64 MB video mem then I guess there is little chance that next OSs will take far more than that in a foreseeable future).

Yes, the 5735Z uses an Intel 4500MHD integrated video controller. And it does not have its own dedicated memory.
