Testing for faulty RAM

So I got a 1gb stick of G.Skill RAM about 2 weeks ago. And that's about the time I started noticing my laptop freezes up a lot. I checked through several pages of the "periodic freezing on S96J" thread on Asus and haven't found anything so far. I deduced that it must be the G.Skill RAM that's faulty. I'm trying to run my laptop now with each of my sticks separately and in each socket.
Run 1: Corsair in 1st socket, G.Skill in 2nd: periodic freezes
Run 2: G.Skill in 1st: periodic freezes
Run 3: Corsair in 1st: none so far.

Yea, I'm going go through all the possible combinations.

Most of these freeze occur while I'm playing CS, if that helps at all. Also, my laptop seems hotter than it used to be these days..but I don't think it's hot enough to cause a lock up because it's only around 60C (the cpu).

I know there are a couple of memory tests out there like Mem86. Will those specifically label my G.Skill as the culprit of these freezes? (also..is there a installation guide for dummies for mem86? the readme file is...O_O haha)

I would really prefer to not have to RMA this stick, cause I don't want to pay the charges. Oh, but if I do have to RMA it, should I do it through Newegg or G.Skill? Newegg has that 15% restocking fee too...so yea.

figured out the problem...man i feel stupid, lol.

my hard drive keeps spinning up and down while i'm playing cs. any reason for that? it used to not do that...but now it does it constantly.
