Exploded power supply? Must be some cheap Chinese copy - the original ones have built in protection (my laptop has built in protection on the motherboard, as well, but it works only with original HP adapters with Smart-something).

My advice: Undervolt your processor! And your graphics card, too! For me, it meant the difference between throttling to ~70% at stock on a 130W power supply and being able to run both overclocked (with lower temps, as well)!

    Exactly!

Bought a cheap 19v 150w HP brick to replace stock one since my X9100 caused it to shutdown when stress testing. New brick barely gets warm Grafted stock tip onto it. You have to watch polarity since the shield on the replacement was the positive side.
