You want the results to be consistent, there are a lot of variables in games that depend on your mouse movement, keystrokes, and other things that can't be exactly replicated.

You can use the simple free small program Orthos from the Undervolting thread.

IIRC you do Small FFTs - Stress CPU

ok ive done some pre icd7 tests with my current ac mx-2 paste applied.
for each test i played the game till temps seemed to no longer go up which was an avg of about 30mins.
the laptop wasnt moved and room temp was about 75c (remained that way as much as possible)
i suspect i will receive the icd7 tube shortly will replicate list with icd7 results when it arrives.
If there are any other games or programs you would like me to add to the list i will see what i can do. (i will update left 4 dead with hwmonitor readings tomorrow)

anyways heres my list:

Games are a very poor means of really testing temperatures, because things are so inconsistent.

Everest Ultimate Edition (system stability test)
Prime 95
linx
rthdribl_1_2 (tests GPU)

Just finished with everything and here are my results for my P-6860FX, with an Intel T8300.

Processor Idle
before:37C
after: 35C

Processor Max Temp.(ran Orthos 45min.)
before: 55C
after: 51C

Graphics card Idle
before: 45C
after: 42C

Graphics card Max Temp.(ran rthdribl 45min.)
before: 69C
after: 65C

A little difficult to apply, but not too hard. The only part that really caused a problem was when pulling the tube/syringe away, the paste stuck longer than i expected while the paste hanging thinned out. Thanks again.

Hi guys I'm new here. I have been looking over this thread and must say I am impressed with ICD 7. I have just a few questions.
1. From what I understand you can use this compound in the xps m1330 copper mod to eliminate the use of the copper shim. would one just pile it on to fill the gap.

2. Is this possible to use as a regular thermal compound spreading it thinly on the cpu?

3. Is the testing phase still on? As in am I able to still email Andrew for the giveaway?

I hope answering these aren't to much of a bother and Thank you

Oh and BTW +rep to capper for setting this up

Yes......the copper shim works much better than the stock thermal pad (thermal pads are garbage). You should see a bit of an improvement with the ICD7. I'd recommend a good sized dab, probably a little bigger than a pea. Its non-conductive, so dont worry about it pushing over the sides of the core. Once it cures/sets, the ICD7 firms up and isnt going to bleed out.

sure can, Arctic Cooling MX2, tuniq TX2, Shin Etsu, Arctic Silver all work fine.....but if you have enough ICD7 left over after doing up the chipset, the CPU doesnt require nearly as much....you should have enough left over.

If you have questions or need help, just post back here or hit someone up via PM.

I should be posting my before & afters either late tonight or sometime tomorrow.

While we are chatting, though -

As I've read through this thread, I'm really not seeing any downside to using ICD. I see where some pastes dry out and need replacement. or may bubble and not give a good conductive contact, or may damage components if allowed to leak, etc. Is there any downside to ICD?
