uninstalling games in steam
how do you uninstall one specific game in steam, all while keeping the others and not having to uninstall the whole steam and then reinstalling it and downloading everything again?

Re: uninstalling games in steam
If you right-click on the game under My Games... I think there's an option to "delete" or "uninstall" it...

Yeah, that would be it. I'm fairly sure it will delete your savegames for that game as well, though, so make sure you back up first if you think you'll need those again.

Re: uninstalling games in steam
question... I uninstalled most of my steam games to free up hdd space. over 30gb worth. However windows did not give me my space back and insist that the games are still installed.
Every time I go to uninstall them it just loads steam as the uninstaller and steam shows the games not installed.

Re: uninstalling games in steam
Steam leaves the base archives for installed games and only deletes the actual game data. Saves downloading the gb's every time you re-install the game. I can't remember exactly where they are in the steam directory (username/steamapps or something?) and I haven't got it installed so can't check
. Anyone?
I don't think they're too difficult to find. They're really big and they've got names like 'half-life 2 source content.xxx etc. Just remember different games rely on different content. E.g. a lot of games will require that you have the base half-life 2 cabinets to access stuff for the source engine (I think?).

Re: uninstalling games in steam
Well the reason that happened is because you uninstalled them through Windows, what you want to do is Delete local content through Steam, and then if Windows still thinks it's installed try to uninstall it.
Unless I've been reading that all wrong. Anyways that's how I've handled it in the past, and it worked for me. Usually though on my laptop I only install the most used games, desktop isn't lacking space
