Yes your right, the first few sets of batteries i got didnt last long ast all (about 10 hours of use) but then i decided to get a charger and some rechargeable batteries, i got the energizer pack from tesco here in the UK which was the cahrger and 4 batteries for £12, they are absolute stellar, they have been in the mouse a week now with a hell of a lot of use!!

you got around a 4900 STOCK?! back when i had a 7800, when i set it to standard clocks it would get a 4200. and i could only push it to around 5500 with overclocking, clearly on par with your scores. That is a really powerful card, although 500/1200 clocks seem pretty high to me...

Im in shock too!! even at 550/1400 the laptop seemed pretty quiet!! When i first bought the laptop i certainly was not expecting to be able to play some of the latest games at max detail at 1920x1200!!

    OK ANOTHER OVERCLOCK!!
Last one i think, i pushed the 7600GT Go to 600/1450 and i can tell you that it is rock solid stable even in a warm environment, i can actually here the fans kick in at these speeds also!!
I reckon the mem can be pushed higher but ill leave that to the experts!! A stellar overclocker for a laptop graphics card though, you might notice i got an extra gig of ram aswell at last!!

Wow. That thing is a beast. That thing is getting close to 7900GS overclocking potential. Very nice purchase.

Focca, one of my worries about this laptop is its resolution, that being so high its going to be difficult to read text. Anyone knows of a place I can get images at this resolution with text, speadsheets or web viewing? Nevermind, I'll try to make one by my own, so I can try to scale it to how tiny text would look if this 1280x800 15,4" screen was that laptop (but then again you can play with DPI values).

Thanks... or if anyone knows of somewhere I could get this, would be interesting. Its my biggest gripe about this laptop (save for the price! but then again, its reasonable given the specs).

Another question, how is the sound? Is it good? (for a laptop). harmon/kardon on the Toshiba is nice (but this is no deal breaker).

How warm does it get while not gaming? Web browsing, etc?

Weight is high, 8.4lb, but not so much as other high performance 17" machines.

Its hard to find info on this laptop! Thanks,

The Sound is fantastic in games,TV and music, for some reason when playing a dvd the sound is quite low (this is a known problem though which will be fixed with a patch from sony/sigma)

The laptop when gaming is only luke warm which is nice considering i moved from a powerbook which was so hot i couldnt use it as a "lap"top!!

im not sure about the image thing, do you want me to post a full scale image on here at 1920x1200 with this website on? I can tell you now that i can read all the text on this web page from 3 ft away, its nothing to worry about whatsoever if your eyesight is fine, to me it seems like the natural resolution for this screen! I dont think that Scaling down wont do the pictures justice. maybe i could take a pic later that includes the laptop bezel to give a better idea?

Focca don't get me wrong but you sound a little subjective to me. You said you can easily read webpages on 1920x1200 from 1m(3ft)?! I've got a laptop with such screen and I have to increase fonts to read from, I don't know, 0,5m and I don't have problems with eyes. It's also hard to believe that laptop is whisper quiet. Ok, maybe during word processing, web surfing or something but not during heavy gaming on OCed GPU. 7600GT is a monster so it must generate much heat, it's simple. Unless you're gaming in refrigerator but your avatar says you don't
Nevertheless great machine, even though I hate Sony (except PSP )

Yes overclocked you hear the fans kick in, but it still isnt that loud!! I swear i can read everything on this webpage from 3ft away!! Im using all standard settings for ie7 beta 3. Also dont forget having had a few desktop 7600gt, one with a zalman which is whisper quiet in gaming and the other was a fanless heatsink clocked at higher speeds than this one at stock. Its a stellar GPU!! Heh my avatar pic from when i was in the Bahamas lol, im from the UK and my house is warmer than normal.

Desktop 7600GT is faster and warmer than mobile equivalent so I don't think we can compare them. Besides ANY laptop has such good cooling solution as Zalman's desktop fans And indeed - 7600GT is great, wish to have it in my W3j but X1600 still suits my needs.
