Nvidia 285M. Should I flash my GPU?
Been having some serious problems with my Sager NP8690 with nvidia 285 GPU. I have been having some games completely lock up Deus Ex/ deadspace1&2/ deadisland/ civ V and more I can't remember while Skyrim plays fine. I keep getting the "kernal mode has stopped responding and has recovered" error message regardless of what certified nvidia driver I use. These are clean driver installs. I tested my ram and it's fine. Checking the forums some people have success with a GPU flash or a MoBo flash. Any advice?

Re: Nvidia 285M. Should I flash my GPU?
Please refer us to the exact circumstances in which a "GPU flash or Mobo flash" helped with similar problems.
Personally I would strongly recommend buying a new GPU if only for newer directX support. Here are some great options:
ATi MXM Radeon HD 5870 HD5870 1GB GDDR5 Laptop Video Card 216-0769008 | eBay
Dell Alienware M17x R2 AMD ATI Radeon HD 5870M Laptop Video Card C8245 RT01J | eBay (no perfomance gain, DX11)
Dell Alienwar M15X NVIDIA GeForce GTX 460M MXM 3.0b VGA Card 1.5GB DDR5 | eBay (no performance gain without overclocking, DX11)
Fs: Msi gtx 570m 3 gddr5 mxmiii (new) (big upgrade, DX11)
P. S. Do you go to duke university or...?

Re: Nvidia 285M. Should I flash my GPU?
Here are a couple examples, not sure how the links work on here.
Display Driver has stopped responding and has recovered
NP8690 bios update
Here is another where people aren't able to fix

If I go with an ATI card I'll have to flash my MoBo because my bios isn't set up for those cards. I think
P.S. It's a UNC/Duke thing. I'm a UNC grad.
