What happen to diablo 3? Any real diablo fans here?

As someone who has been playing the diablo series since the 1996, Diablo III has personally exceeded all my expectations. Havin so much fun.

Sure its not perfect, but neither was Diablo 2 at release. I have full confidence that it will only get better from here.

you realize that there is a gold auction house? i feel like everyone complaining about the real money auction house has totally forgotten the gold auction house.

As far as repetitiveness, it is more repetitive than most things, but less repetitive than diablo 2.

@foreverzen - just wait until inferno where the elite mob packs can one-shot you, and they regularly cause nearly instant death by mere proximity (i don't mean 2 feet, i mean just being in range to fire). you can easily end up in impossible situations.

I highly doubt that. Not every item will be worth real money. But every item will be worth something in game gold.

False. You can sell commodities on both auction houses. That includes gold on the RMAH. That means that the full range of items will be present on the regular AH, including the highest-end elite gear.

First let me say, I'm enjoying D3 on par with D2 for the most part.

I am enjoying the game up to a point, but Inferno is irritating because Blizzard basically took the WoW end game blueprint, gave it an extra splash of grind and said, "here ya go!"

I'm playing a Monk.

Up to Inferno, the game was pretty straight forward and easy. I can count on one hand the times I died all through Normal->Hell. If an item dropped that was an upgrade, cool....cool cool cool, but I didn't even touch the AH. I just powered through.

Inferno is a different beast, and I was dying....a lot.....on Act I. Different specs, different approaches, it didn't matter. Some packs of Elites are just beastly (Isn't it fun when they box you in, stun you, then drop poison AND fire....that's the trifecta right there boys and girls). I was progressing ( I would have made Ben Franklin proud the way I work my kite), but at a death laden rate that was unacceptable. Then I realized it was the tried and true Blizzard gear check and my gear was pretty bad (Level 38-44 pieces anyone?). Just like in WoW, gear is for the most part unimportant until you hit current content. For D3, Inferno = Cataclysm.

So I pried open my modest savings, spent a frugal amount on the AH (Less than a million gold. The most I spent was 700k on a 1300+ dps Daibo and went pseudo glass cannon versus tank and spank or DW), pushed my dps to 23k+, dropped my health to 30k, resists to 300, tossed my shield and 1H and just like that, Act I was doable. It is now on Farm mode with the occasional bad luck with an elite pack here or there. The ONLY thing that changed was my gear when I had to dip into my quaint little pile of earned gold to upgrade it.

So like most, even after reading the horror stories of Act II, I took a swing at it and was owned on a level that made being owned in Act I look like nothing. Act II is INSANE. So I went to the AH, figured I'd snag a few pieces and try to make it tolerable, except those pieces are millions of gold EACH and weapon prices with needed stats are ridiculous . The only real viable build for Monks (and Barbarians too depending on playstyle) without top notch gear is to try and build a LoH (1000+) + Attack speed % set (You basically heal through the damage since we're melee) to survive along with kiting if needed. I'm sure LoH is going to get hit with the nerf bat though.

So it's back to the grind. Farming Act I over....and over....and over.....Get your Nephalem buff x 5, go farm some elite packs, a few bosses and Butcher....rinse/repeat. Watch all the trash drops and terribad yellows. The few that are decent you AH. Laugh at the woefully underpowered Legendaries...realize you are nowhere close to being able to buy the gear you need....*sigh*

I'm sure the gold spammers who are flooding general are doing a booming business now unless you're a DH or to a lesser degree Wizard. Monks and Barbarians have it bad....

Of course the RMAH is coming along which will fit in PERFECTLY for Blizz to create another massive revenue stream and many gamers will begrudgingly open their wallets to make the game easier....shocker.
