Re: MMO's do not require good hardware?
There is something wrong with the hardware... If mine can get 50+fps with 560's in stormwind, and he can only pull off 10-30 fps using the same settings there is something wrong... The 7970's are benching amazingly higher than dual 560m's. And that was with modded drivers... There is something wrong with the settings or something else...
And I put 3 periods on all my post, it is habit, so that really didn't add anything to the discussion about the settings except pointing it out...
If he wants to give up and blame the game is one thing... But I know it can be done with hardware that is not as new or good...M18X - i7-2760qm - 2x560m - 8GB@1600 -256GB SSD -

Re: MMO's do not require good hardware?
It's true, but still very annoying. SW is probably the zone I'll frequent most, yet it has the worst performance apparently of damn near any zone in the game.
I guess I need to check out some other games and try to make a decision here. Apparently I was not wrong in that it will likely take a GTX 690 to pull 60 fps in SW, kind of makes you wonder how anyone plays the damn game
Do you think an i5-3570k at 4GHz with a 7950 or so would fare way better at these type of settings or just be like 45 fps instead of 35?

Re: MMO's do not require good hardware?
You have a 7970, why would you go down to a 7950? Below is the scores for 3dmark Vantage. You have a powerful card. I don't know why you think you need to have a 690 to get 60 fps in stormwind. it is possible with 560m's. The 680m's aren't even out yet, the 690m's will be a long time from now.

Re: MMO's do not require good hardware?
That does make me wonder if there isn't still something wrong. Still, I have no idea what else to try. I'm downloading a couple other games tonight to see how those go tomorrow, but beyond that I'm kind of out of ideas.
