Re: AMD 7970m vs GTX 680m
Can anyone who knows chinese translate this. I am not interested in google translate
Is he talking about the new 680M reaching up to P7000 or the 7970?

Re: AMD 7970m vs GTX 680m
i think it says 680M is only P5000 in 3DMark 11 while the 7970 goes past 6000.
also i think it says the 680M is probably gk104Old laptop: MacBook (Late 2009) Core 2 Duo 2.2 GHz, 2GB DDR3 1066 MHz Ram, GeForce 9400M

Re: AMD 7970m vs GTX 680m
Do you know chinese or just guessing?
If they say 680M reaching P5000, it means they know nothing new about it. Bah, sucks

Re: AMD 7970m vs GTX 680m
It never was out of guessing/specualting zone.
So far most of the posts about 680M were wishful thinking, while 7970M is awfully real that overclocks well and stays cool. I honestly know nothing about 680M, but waiting and waiting and waiting to (maybe one day) buy something is really tiring. I hope that 680M won't disappoint you.

Re: AMD 7970m vs GTX 680m
Well the overclocking ceiling for the 7970m in 3dmark 11 (tes on) is in the 6800pts range.
680m has to beat that.
I am considering buying the 7970m with the i7 3720qm and i see no reason to wait.
Edit: Just that fact i will have 6970 to gtx580 performance in a notebook is amazing.(in overclock)

Technically, yes. The 580 Desktop @ 950+Mhz sails away beyond 7K+ though.

Re: AMD 7970m vs GTX 680m
My thoughts exactly. Performance wise I can't ask more from this card and CPU. I'd rather be using it now than wait and hope for a "supercard" for many more months and probably be disappointed at the end anyway by either performance that did not meet expectations (that became too high after so much waiting) or by the price. Currently there is only one choice for high end gaming card (for "colorblind" people like me) - 7970M. Otherwise I'd get 650M which is cheaper and is good enough for most people.

Re: AMD 7970m vs GTX 680m
I had a Chinese friend translate it for me. He said the chinese was a bit confusing, but he gave me this:
"chh have broke the news, the GTX 680x scores less than P5k in 3D11, and you know, the 7970m scores over P6k. Now that it was sent back to rebuilt, some news say it scores 6.5k ~ 7k (6.5k is reasonable). The gk104 power control was a great progress, and the automatic overclocking can result in a lower TDP than we have now"
2 things to say about this:
1- The information about the 6.5k ~ 7k in 3D11 is not official. Someone heard, but is not official.
2 - Without some more backgroud was hard to tell if they are talking about the GTX 680m or the 7970m when they are talking about the rebuild and the 6.5k scores. BUT, IMO, it makes more sense to imagine they are talking about the 680m, since rumors about problems in their production have already been around for some time.
I believe we'll still have to wait to see what is the real truth.Compaq Presario 2100: 1.52GHz of pure power!!!
