Default ATI HD 7970M or Nvidia GeForce GTX 675M

Problably I will buy this month a laptop Clevo P170EM and I don't know what Graphic Card I will put. Or ATI HD 7970M or Nvidia GeForce GTX 675M.
Both are 2GB DDR5. I wasw advice that ATI are a little better that Nvidia, but I don't know what to choose.
I would like the best Graphic card for playig Battlefield 3 if possible in ultra settings!

    7970M hands down.

Plus, it's AMD Radeon HD 7970M, not ATI. Just saying :P

If you want a Nvidia Geforce GTX 580 rebrand (GTX 675) or the not a rebrand AMD Radeon HD 7970m.
Dont think too much of how much GB of memory they got, wont make that a big difference.

Are there any 7970m benchmarks yet?

I would hope it would be better since it is a new card and the 675m is just a renamed 580m. Kind of a big fail for AMD if their new card won't beat a year old card.

Should be around a 20% increase, as the 7970M was a 25% increase over the 6990M.

the 7970m for sure....a single 7970m is just a tad less powerful than crossfire 6990m. It will be beastly

The gtx 675 = gtx 580m they are the same card. both are on the same silicon, based on the older fermi 40nm architecture

The 7970m is a next gen card and is essentially a desktop 6970 downclocked 80mhz to 800mhz. This you can make up in an overclock. The 7970 has 1536 stream processors...it is identical to a desktop 6970 and hence is powerful

Further, the 7970m is built on the new 28nm process and tdp is dropped to 70w which means it will run cool and should overclock nicely

I'm more interested in how the 7970m will be vs. Nvidia's 680m.

I still don`t understand how the 7970M can have more shaders than 7850 and 7870. Or how it can have under 50% power consumption of the 7870 at the same time

Yes...the true battle. People keep comparing the 7970m to the 675m...and the winner is...us! Both cards will be beastly!!!

Just for reference, the HD7970 is NOT like tha HD6970. The Architecture is different (GCN vs VLIW4) so core by core, the GCN is more powerful. But with sacrifices for the mobile market, the HD7970m will be, at best, around the level of the HD6950 desktop in performance, generally.

And also the numbers are not official as far as we are concerned yet. they could end up being less. And according to rumored benches etc, it should be 30% faster than the HD6990m as tops, so its definitely not slightly lower than Crossfire Hd6990m, but quite weaker and such a setup.

Now back on topic... It's a safer bet to go for the HD7970m.
