Cebit 2012 notebook updates
Well Cebit is just starting so I thought it would be nice if we have a thread here logging all notebook related cebit news that any user might stumble upon and wishes to share..
To start it off..
1. New MSI G series notebooks (looking very slick)
Press release - MSI Europe ? News
Hands on - Google Translate
2. New Gigabyte Laptops. The U2442 ultrabooks and P2542G gaming laptop.
link - Gigabyte unveils U2442 ultrabooks and P2542G gaming laptop at CeBIT -- Engadget
edit: just noticed there are more models listed in the press release on that page. Have a look.
3. Fujitsu Lifebook UH572 Ultrabook - Google Translate
Please feel free to add any new updates here so that all the news remains in one place. It would be great if you checked for repeats before posting.
PS: @admins, I know this isnt really the correct section for this. I posted it here because this section tends to have higher traffic than the news and reviews section. Feel free to move if you feel the need.

Re: Cebit 2012 notebook updates
Good idea to make a list of all the notebooks. Then we don`t have to go from thread to thread to keep us updated

Re: Cebit 2012 notebook updates
Those Gigabyte 14" units with 900p screens and discrete GPUs look interesting.
Acer 4820TG - i5-480m, HD 5650 - $675 - two and half years old, starting to feel old, maybe just need an SSD
Possible upgrades - LG 900p screen, Momentus XT
Next laptop (2013?): 14" 900p screen, BR-RW, ATI 8xxx series dGPU w/ 2GB GDDR6 ram, 6-core AMD or Haswell, 8GB DDR4 ram, 1 TB SSD, 6 MP 1080p webcam, Lightpeak + USB 3.0, 16 hrs battery, <4 lbs

Re: Cebit 2012 notebook updates
I wouldnt believe that I would say this so soon..
But the gigabyte U2442 looks superior to the LG P330! It seems it has a better gpu, cpu and screen.. One thing I presume though is, that it has a fixed battery(6 cells?).. But other than that its a clear winner!! And only for 1000 dollar ? What a price.. Lets hope the internals arent molded like in other ultrabooks so we can update with ssd !
Also very interesting how thin it is, how can such a thin chassis cool such a strong card (which I presume is stronger than the 555m/635m)
Go Kepler!

Re: Cebit 2012 notebook updates
Uhh how quickly my opinion can change.. Gigabyte has super specs, but the build quality seems quite crappy! You can see the ventilation openings on the back of the notebook though, so maybe cooling is efficient?
And looks like it has a fixed battery, but what bugs me even more is the build quality
Spoiler :
Spoiler :
Just look at the video for the build quality at kurtcocaines link
Also, its said to run for 5 hours.. so probably in reality 3 to 4 hours? Weak battery -.-Last edited by gamba66; 6th March 2012 at 01:13 PM.

Re: Cebit 2012 notebook updates
Much better to have a single thread for all products as I wouldn't know about MSI's GT60/GT70 since I don't follow that vendor at all. Would like to really know how aluminum the chassis really is though. Any Alienware info? Someone from Dell said they were going to announce something at CeBit I think.
Alienware M14X: Stealth Black | i7-2630QM | 4GB DDR3 1600MHz RAM | 14" 1600x900 | 1.5GB GT555M | 500GB 7200RPM | Intel WiFi Link 1000 | 60GHz WirelessHD

Toshiba Satellite P855 glasses-free 3D laptop hands-on (video) -- Engadget
15.6-inch glasses-free Toshiba Satellite P855
Remember that glasses-free 3D Qosmio F750 (aka F755 in the US) gaming laptop we saw last year? We're not sure how many of them Toshiba has sold, but the company's Google Page Ranking folks tell us they've been popular enough to justify a further 15.6-inch glasses-free model -- a Satellite P855, which will have a more mainstream target audience. We're looking at exactly the same lenticular technology, which uses a webcam to adjust the 3D effect to the user's head movements, and which delivers effective results if you sit relatively still and give your eyes a chance to adapt. This time, however, the effect is delivered within a textured aluminum chassis that will likely appeal to a wider audience than the red-styled garishness of the Qosmio. The price tag has yet to be disclosed, but that should also be more appealing, since the Satellite range starts at £599 ($940). The P855 won't arrive until Q2 and Toshiba wasn't ready to reveal any concrete specs concerning the processor or graphics, other than saying this laptop is aimed at mainstream 3D gaming as well as Blu-Ray consumption. We asked about memory and storage too, but with no success -- all we could glean is that there are four USB 3.0 ports, HDMI out, Intel WiDi for direct WiFi beaming of 1080 video to a bigger screen, plus Harmon Kardon speakers. C'mon Tosh, give us Ivy Bridge paired with a 28nm Kepler GPUand make the world happy. (Hands-on video right after the break.)
