fractaluser why not just buy a desktop with nvidia gtx 680 or something instead?

A 675m now is a mid-high end card. A 7970m is nearly 2x as powerful generally while taking similar power consumption, I think the 7970m even takes less overall on idle but even full load on some stuff it should take less. m17x r4 have 7970m.

    AMD Radeon HD 7970M - Notebookcheck.net Tech

You should but a desktop gtx 670 instead or something midrange instead or wait for the mobile gtx 680m. A gtx660m more then holds its own against the 675m so you might as well get that.

Torment, thanks for the input, but my reseller in sweden has only the 675 so i took that one instead of the ati. I recon i'll do pretty good with it =)

nissangtr786, well i need a (s)laptop since i will be constantly moving and not having my "own place" to have that desktop so that kills most of my alternatives as well =/

They nerfed double precision performance even more than they did with fermi? I hate their market segregation strategies, they could try actually making some of their product rather than deliberately making others worse. NVIDIA Y U DO THIS?

Torment78, that laptop is a beast of a laptop so much so its like a desktop in a laptop form factor.

However the new laptops with ivybridge 3920xm holds its own against the likes of the 990x as can be shown on notebookcheck apart from really heavily stressed applications. If I was you I would get a i7 3720qm with a 7970m and take 40% your electricity power consumption you currently need on your laptop.

yup your right about the the power consumpion
but its not wurth for me
if you would have sayed the new 270 coming that would be the one that i would go for .
if the 680m's are better then 7970m ill just upgrade for for two of those in this
then when i feel the cpu cant handle the prezure any more il go for the upgrade to Sandy Bridge E/2011 or if they come out with a Ivy Bridge E

What kind of applications that can heavily stress the laptop? Gaming?
