AMD Radeon HD 6470M
How good is it actually for gaming? Im planning to get the following notebook:
MSI FX420-050US
Intel Core i5 2410M(2.30GHz)
14" 6GB Memory 640GB HDD DVD
AMD Radeon HD 6470M
If i can run Crysis 2 on Medium(!) settings its fine to me, i have a budget of 800 dollars and i prefer a 14' above 15.6' so i cam out on this. There are also options for something like this with a Geforce 520M, wich one is actually better?
So once again, im not looking to play new games on high, medium is just fine to me.Lenovo IdeaPad Y470 Laptop - 085526U:

Re: AMD Radeon HD 6470M
Goto the bottom of this link: AMD Radeon HD 6470M - Notebookcheck.net Tech
It gives game benchmarks of the AMD 6470m card.
6470m gets near 40 fps in low settings on Crysis 2. Gets mid 20s in medium.
Here's the GT 520m: NVIDIA GeForce GT 520M - Notebookcheck.net Tech
The GT 520m actually gets lower fps on Crysis 2 than the 6470m.
Low = very low 30s
Medium = very low 20s

***EDIT***
If 16" isn't too big, the HP dv6 has an AMD 6770m (upgrade).
The 6770m can play Crysis 2 on medium in the 50 fps range.

I'm sure you can find a coupon some where that will put the dv6 under $1000 (if not lower).

Re: AMD Radeon HD 6470M
You should wait a a month or so for more widespread AMD Llano laptops with CPU+GPU. They will be at good price and with better graphics.
6470 is probably the last low level card that AMD/ATI will do.
There are always DV6 on stores with that combo. See

Re: AMD Radeon HD 6470M
For older games, it will probably be just fine.
