Does the game requires you to have an Internet connection to play?

No since you can set Steam of Offline Mode if you need to.

    My GPU is a 6950 2gb, I don't think it's the problem.

EDIT: Solved my problem. Forced Oblivion to use only two cores, and my performance problems are gone. Stupid game.

So I think Skyrim is earning my personal "Game of the Year" award. Yes, it has weird bugs that crop up every once in a while, but they are few and far between and the sheer, eyeball-melting awesomeness of this game outweigh the odd crash every now and then. I'm on the last quest for the Thieves Guild quest line and I have been VERY impressed by the story so far. And that's just one of the gajillion factions!

Yeah, I think Skyrim is going to be my GotY. Battlefield 3 is getting the runner-up prize along with Arkham City (on the 360).

I just installed the Skyrim Nexus Modmanager Beta. I love the fact that you can download the mods and install them so easily at the click of a button. Due to this I have tested out a lot more mods, I recommend this to all, especially if you are a bit lazy when it comes to installing mods

I started thinking after starting a new character. I really wish Bethesda could get a little more creative in the way they start off the TES games. In Morrowind I started as a prisoner on a boat, in Oblivion I started as a prisoner in a jail, in Skyrim I start as a prisoner in the back of a horse drawn cart....

Where's the creativity that we see in the other aspects of the game?

You have to admit, the whole captive thing gives them an explanation why you are almost nakid and have no money or items.

I guess they could use the whole "your ex-wife took everything in the divorce", but that wouldn't work for female characters. :-)

I reverted back to 1.2 and installed the 4gig mod from the nexus and I haven't crashed once.
