Re: ***Updating Mobile Graphics Cards Drivers (Windows 7 and Vista)***
I have an old Asus m50vm, which has an nVidia 9600M GS. The laptop is not officially supported under Windows 7, but I have been running 64-bit Windows 7 successfully since it was released.
At some point in time, I started having semi-frequent crashes (of either the black-screen or blue-screen variety). It has been too long since they started for me to remember what driver I was using, or when the problem started. Since the crashes all seem to reference nVidia drivers when I get a blue-screen, I assumed it had to be either heat or driver issues.
I have taken all of the remedial steps that I can think of...using compressed air to help with heat, replacing the hard drive with an SSD, and trying several versions of the video driver. While I sometimes think that I have my problems solved for a while, they inevitably return at some point. Having been through a huge number of nVidia drivers, I am wondering whether anyone has any recommendations as to which driver would be the most stable. If the laptop were officially supported by Asus, I would try whatever they recommended as the latest, even though I'd be frustrated by not using something more recent. Since that isn't an option, I'm left looking for suggestions.
P.S. More often than not, it seems like the crash occurs when two conditions are present...my wife is also logged in (probably with a browser open), and I have a Flash game running. Yes, I have also tried updating my Flash repeatedly to no clear effect. Obviously, I avoid this condition whenever possible, but getting my wife to close her browser and/or logoff is just not a feasible option at all times.
Thank you in advance.

Re: ***Updating Mobile Graphics Cards Drivers (Windows 7 and Vista)***
Wondering if anyone can tell me why my 5650 is basically dead.
After trying various drivers from acer support and amd's site, I always get "completed but with warnings(or something similar).
But no message to restart the computer and no catalyst control center.
I its almost as the only thing installed is the hdmi audi drivers.
edit:
pc modell is acer 3820tg with amd and intel gpu.

Re: Problem with ATI Driver - HD 5850
AMD Question: I've upgraded to Win 7 and soon win 8 and will do the same for some clients who relie on me. The problem is "catalyst" control center no longer supports cards below the 5540x series and REALLY stopped support much earlier but NOW it seems official.
I have 2 x 4670HD crossfires and want to use the video conversion program (Commonly referred to as AVIVO?) and in fact found help on issue inteh past in this forum! - But that thread is now closed.
In an attempt to run the procedures outlined in hat thread I only get a vauge message error: 1904 failed to registers call support.
A larger issue was that a number of my clients were running the so called "Open_cl" standard in Vegas and getting improved performance with teh ATI cards who upon upgrading LOST that performance, as for me I saw docs saying support would be available for the 4670 but then was dropped either my teh AMD people of Sony.
But the delema still exists. MUST all the old cards go despite features like crossfire, open_cl standards etc... and how or what can a user do when Hardware manufacturers use software to FORCE the hardware upgrades?

My system is this: windows 7 ultimate 32bit

Re: ***Updating Mobile Graphics Cards Drivers (Windows 7 and Vista)***
I am wondering which driver i should download to update my video card. i have done alot of searching but know one has the same setup as me. its a switchable graphics card. laptop. no intel inside.
I have read keep hp driver on and install new driver over to keep the switchable feature available.
If this is true what is the hp driver i should have on there? And what is the newest driver i can put on there
I have read disable the onboard GFX "Radeon HD 4250" card in BIOS aka "fixed" setting.
I have read uninstall old driver before installing new ones.
I have read uninstall, boot into safe mode, clean-ly uninstall drives with specific programs.
I have read install new driver in safe mode.
I have read many things but i still cant figure this driver update out.
The computer runs pretty good, bf3 has a few CTD but i think thats cuz i play for hrs on end. I have a cooling mat under it and i plan on using compressed air and a vaccum to dust it like i use to on my old Desktop. I play all games in the lowest settings and have the GFX control set to performance instead of quality. All options set to application managed and Catylst AI is disabled.
i have a...
HP Pavilion dc7-4060us
64bit
windows 7
4GB ram
AMD Phenom II N830 triple-core processer 2.10GHz
ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5650<-------------what i want to update
AMD M880G with Radeon HD 4250
Driver Package Version 8.77.2.1-100919a-105630C-HP
Catalyst Version 11.11
i have a restore point i keep falling back on and thrrew my many different trys to update this driver i notice my CCC which is now called AMD VISION Engine Control Center has updated and looks shiny and new with slick buttons and icons, i dont know if this is the reason my computer wont upgrade
among others
12-8_mobility_vista_win7_win8_64_dd_ccc_whql
and
12-4_mobility_vista_win7_64_dd_ccc
have been used to try and update drivers, but i dont know if these where right but i was just installing them wrong... aka reboot after? install in safe mode. yada yada blah blah wolf wolf.
please help for this is the 3rd forum im trying.
