Re: Final Fantasy XIV Benchmark - Can't Run.
Low, because it's not covering the screen, and the high bench is full hd resolution.

Re: Final Fantasy XIV Benchmark - Can't Run.
I received my M17x yesterday and have been trying to get FFXIV's benchmark to run since then with no luck. Can someone point me in the right direction? I downloaded the latest drivers from dell as well as what I could on ATI's website (catalyst 10.6 though it indicated there was a warning, I didn't see any errors in the log) including XF application profiles. I'm at a bit of a loss now with what to do, any help would be appreciated. system specs are: i7 920xm / 8g dual chan mem / Crossfire 5870's / 256 SSD / 1200p LED / intel wifi / 3 yr complete care / silver

Ran fine for me also.
ATI 10.6 Official
Probably will not try this game though and wait for GW2 instead.

Re: Final Fantasy XIV Benchmark - Can't Run.
I got 1512 on high (1080p) and 2871 on low (720p). My ATI 5830 was OC'd to 525/1100.
Do these low scores have something to do with ATI cards not working well with this benchmark?
So far, my laptop has been able to run about any 3D game I've tried at 1920x1080p resolution, max detail settings and run at minimum at least 30-45 FPS, often double that.

Re: Final Fantasy XIV Benchmark - Can't Run.
Nope not to do with ATi. Just your card. FF XIV is supposed to be the best looking, hardware demanding MMO once it's released. Even Tera and GW2 will unlikely beat FF XIV.
You forget that even a regular HD5770 clocks are 850 core / 1200 memory. Your overclocks are nowhere close to that. It would seem that core speed matters a lot in this instance.
But there is hope. Once it's released and ATi has provides a profile for this game and Square Enix optimizes it more, you should be ok. MMO is all about making the games run on as many systems as possible.Last edited by ziddy123; 24th July 2010 at 06:04 PM.

Re: Final Fantasy XIV Benchmark - Can't Run.
Yeah it's not the best looking, hardware demanding MMO. It's poorly optimized.
AOC is probably holding that position.
The benchmark is clearly Nvidia-biased when checking different forums.
I remember seeing people getting a much higher score than my desktop with the same cpu (E8500 @ 4ghz) but with an much older (nvidia) gpu. Like a 2000 score difference.
It's been well known that they clearly haven't got a clue how to optimize the PC version. FFXI shared the same problem when released.
Add the fact that they seem to hate KB/M control schemes as well, it's clear that the PC is just an added system rather than the intended one.
Which is kind of sad, as it's not intuitive at all to play an MMO with a controller.
Also the fact that the "benchmark" doesn't support full screen and only two resolutions further adds to that they don't have a clue about what they're doing.
