OK, thanks for the tip. I suppose a normal 360 controller works out-of-the-box? Is it USB?

So I'm big on fps games but I also like to change what I play all the time. I'm looking to play something new if it's good but there's gotta be some co-op between the players to keep it entertaining, hence the reason why all the CoD series I played got boring to me really fast.

Here's off the top of my head what I have already.
tf2, bf2, bf:bc2, cs, cs:source, crysis, global agenda, lfd, lfd2 and probably more I can't think of when needed

I far prefer Morrowind to Oblivion. Though this is a matter of some heat on certain forums and certainly a personal choice thing. I'm pretty sure the steam versions of both support mods, it wouldn't be worth getting the steam versions of they didn't tbf. I don't play Oblivion so much so I'm int as much into Oblivion's mod scene, but Morrowind can certainly be brought up to current gen graphics or better with various mods and the Morrowind Graphics Extender. I'm sure someone on the Oblivion side has done something similar for it.

For both there are pretty much infinite free community made mods with almost anything you could ever think of that you might want in your game, massive quests, extra content and so fourth. I've even authored my very own modestly successful mod for Morrowind

Though it's at least as much FPS as RPG, Borderlands is a ton of fun, contains a lot of stuff to explore in a pretty open world, and supports a huge variety of (FPS) playstyles. Compared to a game like Fallout 3, the action element is extremely playable, while the RPG element is significantly toned down, but still notably present.

And speaking of Fallout 3, I'm a bit late to the party, but does anybody else feel like its land mass is tiny compared to its predecessors? Maybe it's just the fact that the space between them is rendered, so instead of taking game days to travel between locations it takes game hours, but it surprised me a bit...

The normal Xbox 360 Wired Controller is USB, and it works right out of the box. Just plug it in, and it should automatically install it's drivers, and your good to go.

All that's left is you might have to select the controller under the options in the game, but (for me at least) most games select the controller automatically when I have the controller plugged in and I start the game.

Also, don't buy the wireless controller unless you buy the adapter which of course is sold separately.

That looks awesome! I will more than likely be picking that one up in Spring of 2011.

I've been able to get the wireless controller to work by connecting it to a USB port with the play-and-charge adapter, so you don't necessarily need the windows wireless receiver. I just needed to install the wireless controller drivers from the microsoft website.

Edit: This is only if you already have a wireless controller from an Xbox360. If you don't already have an Xbox, and are looking for a controller solely for PC gaming, then go with the wired controller.

I think my question is similar to a few other's recent questions, but could you recommend a game for me?

I'm looking for a single player (significantly reduces the choices nowadays) PC game. I prefer a game with a good storyline, and my favorite kinds are dark action RPG type games. I've played and loved Mass Effect 1/2, Dragon Age, The Witcher (just finished this one), Fallout 3 (though I didn't think this was as good as it was hyped to be), Bioshock 1, Neverwinter Nights 1/2, and Oblivion. Graphics don't matter too much to me, but still, I'd like something not more than 5 years old.

I don't mind FPS type games, as long as there's a good single player campaign, which seems kinda rare.

I've looked at a few games recently, and almost bought Left4Dead 2 and Borderlands, but the reviews said their single-player is kinda weak. I've also looked at GTA IV (but I heard the PC version sucks), Bioshock 2 (though the reviews said it wasn't as good as the 1st), and KOTOR (but it's a bit too old for me). I haven't ruled these out completely, but I don't see a clear winner. I'd appreciate any good recommendations for one of these, or another game. Thanks for the help!

If you haven't tried The Witcher, it's pretty awesome. It's translated from Polish, so the dialog can be a little choppy at times, but it has a great storyline and RPG progression, and a medium sized world to explore (though you're locked to certain areas depending on your chapter). It also has storyline-impacting decisions and multiple endings (though they're not as significant as in Mass Effect).

Finally! I've been preaching that in these boards for years... Everyone seems to love Fallout 3 but IMO it's almost blasphemy to compare a modest-size FPS with some RPG elements to Fallout 1 or 2. The latter is right up there with Baldur's Gate as the best RPG ever in my book.

I didn't like Fallout 3, but that's subjective. It's not subjective to note that it only takes ~40-50 hours to complete Fallout 3 (side-quests and exploration included) compared to my time of over 200 hours on Fallout 2. Console ports FLW
