Heck yeah you should return it! How much did you pay for that laptop? I've seen some laptops with the ATI 3650 for as low as $650 before. It'll play just about every game out there at medium settings (lowish on Crysis)

the dv5t has no option for 9600M GT anymore.... probably since they might want to push their new line.

but the next best thing is:
- dv5z with ATI HD 3650
- HDX 16t with 9600M GT

the ATI 3650 should perform comparable to the Nvidia 9600M.

This isn't primarily an issue of dedicated graphics memory vs shared graphics memory, just want to clear that up. Even dedicated graphics cards can utilize shared graphics memory these days.

Your low performance is a result of not having real graphics card. You have an integrated graphics system, a low-power Intel chip.

See if you can find something in the GPU/VideoCard category along the lines of an Nvidia 9600 (or above) or an ATI 3650 (or above). Those are the beginning of real gaming cards.

2GB is good enough for XP

4GB is recommended for Vista (to prevent bottlenecks... since Vista is a resource hog)

2.0-2.4GHz dual core CPUs are the bang for the buck CPUs... they should do fine for mid-range gaming.

Sager 2096 comes standard with the 9600M GT and is $802 before any other upgrades.
