Intel GMA 3100 gaming ability
My current laptop is running the intel gma 3100(not x3100) integrated graphics and i was wondering if it would be able to play fps's like Call of Duty 1, Bf2/bf2142, cod4 perhaps? I know these integrated graphics aren't as bad as everyone says because I have Halo 1 up and running fine.

Re: Intel GMA 3100 gaming ability
It might run Call of Duty 1 , but not the others. Intel's GMA chips are by no means designed for gaming. Any games that they do run will have to be older generation using simpler effects.

Re: Intel GMA 3100 gaming ability
From what I've heard, COD4 is just beyond the reach of the x3100. At the lowest settings I've heard that best case scenario people got around 20fps in a simple area. The newest game that I've been able to get playable is Company of Heroes. Highly recommend it!

Yeah, you can run COD1 fine, but the others you suggested are going to struggle.

Re: Intel GMA 3100 gaming ability
there is a difference between "able to run" and "able to play," almost any video card can run a game, but integrated graphics will always struggle with newer games and they wont really be "playable"

Re: Intel GMA 3100 gaming ability
Isn't GMA 3100 a desktop chipset? And x3100 the mobile one?

Re: Intel GMA 3100 gaming ability
Gotta be x3100 if it is a laptop, I would think. Search this forum--there is already a ton of chatter and some good info about what the x3100 can and can't do. COD1 would probably work fine. COD4 would probably chuckle if you attempted to run it on a x3100.

Re: Intel GMA 3100 gaming ability
The X3100 can run BF2/BF2142 on LOW settings, my friend has the same card in his laptop and all he plays are those 2 games.
