The 8600M gs is faster than the 8500GT. The 7600GS is faster than the 8500GT.

There's a rule with nVidia. Never buy a their products that contain 5 (8500, 7500, 5500 etc.).

9500 may not be any better than the 8600 even. Who knows? Look at the desktop 8500 GT. I'd take a 7600 GT over the 8500 any day.

hey guys,,from chinese IT website pconline.com.cn,,there is latest review of asus's m50s which installed 9500gs,,there is the 3dmark result:

seems not bad right,,actually as the author said,,9500gs just is the same core(g84) as 8600m gt except 9500gs can obtain more share memory from system..

it is obvious that nvidia is playing a game which upgrades its display card's level without any creative features.

it is hard to tell if 9500gt will have any difference between "gs",,but i think the next potential core should be 9600m which will published in feb 14th,,desktop version should come out soon and nb's would take more time to serve the market.
9600 is a brand new design and nv's powerful weapon hits the $100-$120 market and claimed 90% stronger than 8600gt,,so may be you can notice more a little bit..
