Find a new friend... the GMA's will never be upgradable what so ever. Sorry you wasted money on what you thought could game... But life is hard sometimes.

Dell 1520 is upgradeable judgeing from the "Remove the graphics assembly" page in the manual. only problem is that i HIGHLY doupt that dell will release something like a 9600GT (Or even GS) for the 1520. They would more likely make a new laptop and call it the 1540 that looks exactly the same expect it has a black bumper around it.

Yes, remember how I said Dell was an exception? But here are the rules for it...

    1) It cannot be an integrated laptop.
    2) The card can only be sourced from Dell (or a pulled eBay card from a Dell laptop).
    3) The card had to be offered at some point in the lifetime of the notebook. For instance, you can only upgrade a E1505 to a 7300, X1300, or X1400...because those were the only three cards ever used in that machine.

you do realize that your notebook WILL NEVER be upgradable... enough people have stated that.. If you wanted an upgradable notebook, you should get an ASUS C90, or Sager 5790, they are an example of full upgradability in notebooks, even the graphics card can be upgraded... easily.

What that is, is the DESKTOP chipset, yes the GMA950 is also in desktop cards.. stop looking already! either get one of the notebooks listed above, or wait til who knows when for the ASUS XG station.. and that's only if your notebook has an Express Card slot.

The first point listed there is about adding additional monitors, the second is assuming you have a desktop motherboard. Many desktop motherboards have PCIe lanes externally available, and a BIOS switch will disable the integrated card.

You have a notebook. Many have tried and failed to upgrade an IGP. None have succeeded without changing a motherboard to a dedicated GPU version...if the laptop was ever offered with a dedicated GPU that is.

    No, this is not possible...period.

There is one way that you can upgrade your notebook's GPU...buy a new notebook. I know that is not what you want to hear, but it is the truth.

Not possible to upgrade a 950.

    lol:
With a powerful 400MHz core and DirectX* 9 3D hardware acceleration, Intel® GMA 950 graphics provides performance on par with mainstream graphics card solutions that would typically cost significantly more.
reminds me of Pentium 4, all MHz and no grunt...
