Thanks. Well a 46" would be about same size as the mirror currently sitting above my fireplace, and seems just about the right size. I could go a bit bigger but don't think it's really necessary, and I think prices hike quite a bit once you go over 46". I think LED would be the best bet too.

first question when buying a new TV is: what's your budget? then u go from there. don't start off by limiting yourself to a few certain features, u'll overlook alot of great sets.

It comes with a ladder so you can get to the top to install your ipod. Sounds like a steal to me

Holy cow! I'd rather just build an addition to my house and buy a nice projector for less than 5% of that TV cost, lol.

To be honest, I have no budget yet. I don't even know how much money I can save yet because I haven't worked long enough to know exactly what my deductions and take home pay will be.

But I'm also willing to spend more if it'd mean noticeable quality improvements. Likely $500 to $1000. Obviously less is better. I don't even know why I'm looking yet because I probably won't have the money until late fall. Maybe I'll just wait until Super Bowl time to get a good deal.

not a bad idea to wait til superbowl, but that's a long ways to go!

will this be just for watching tv/movies? light/heavy gaming?

there isn't any real picture quality improvements from 2011 to 2012, so unless u want some of the fancy 2012 features. u can just settle with a top-tier 2011 set for much, much cheaper.

2011's best bang for the buck TV would probably go to the Samsung PN59D7000 Plasma. i have one upstairs and it's a fantastic TV. the D7000 and D8000 have the same picture quality and was tied as best picture quality set of 2011 with the Panasonic VT-series. u can pick up a 59" D7000 bundle + 3D movie(s) + glasses for around $1700.

It would be for casual movie, TV, sports viewing. On occasion Xbox, but that's far from the critical choice. Mainly TV viewing. No 3D, thanks, and $1700 is much more than I care to spend. In any case, I just had a thought about buying, then looked at my bank account and just have to wait regardless.
