LOL , I though I was the only one here who questions water floridation.
~~ HT how about Sigh-Fi ?? Where is the avatar of Maggie Q ??
Lets at least hope that Nikita and Fringe are kept on free TV till they reach some sort of logical conclusions. Beautiful women and alternate universes facinate me (in that order).

Re: Fox Cancels "Terra Nova"
I find it hard to get into new sci-fi series as i have seen so many canceled, I was not a big fan of terra nova, it reminded me too much of earth two, which got canned also.
Lets make a list, of canned series without an end.
Terra Nova
Earth Two
Stargate Universe
Firefly
Threshold?
Eleventh Hour
And many many more.

Re: Fox Cancels "Terra Nova"
This is the main issue that stops TV shows from really being "good" IMO.
The fact that they constantly fear being canceled by the network means most TV shows cannot have a long term storylines that span more than a few episodes (let alone a few seasons). Only a few TV shows don't follow this model, but most are on a "per season" contract so IMO you always get that feel that the next season's story is "tacked on" because they got renewed as opposed to it following the past season (this is especially true when the show gets renewed past its original storyline plan like Supernatural did).

Re: Fox Cancels "Terra Nova"
I remember reading an article about Andromeda, and some commentary from one of the main writers of the series. He said that most network's goals are to get a tv show syndicated, because that's where they make most of their money. That usually requires a minimum of 100 shows to be produced.
So I would assume that a network's goal from the outset is to reach that hundred episodes, and if there are strong indications that a show just wont last that long, they drop them like hot potatoes.

Re: Fox Cancels "Terra Nova"
Wouldn't be surprised. Like most things, TV shows are a business; if you aren't profitable they'll try another venture. Mind you, usually TV shows know mid-season if they're being signed on again or not.
100 episodes is quite a few though...assuming one episode per week with the seasonal breaks TV shows tend to take that'd be it'd have to be running almost 3 years or so

Re: Fox Cancels "Terra Nova"
Most shows don't know until the last episode of the season is shot, actually. And a typical season is 22-26 episodes, so 100 would be 4 years. But I don't know that it takes 100 episodes to be syndicated. There's old shows with only a couple seasons that go into syndication.
Just seems there should be a way, a contingency for a show somehow. Just because it isn't "successful" in the company's eyes, many still have millions upon millions of viewers/fans.
It is disappointing though, and I feel the same way, that shows are produced just to survive from episode to episode instead of having that long term story and end-game.

Re: Fox Cancels "Terra Nova"
Maybe because it is far from a good show?
I expected MUCH MORE from this but got a pile of.... stupid little stories in each episode. Forgot a type of such shows. Idiots just threw away lot of money in typical shell of shows.Even genius without a proper knowledge can be mislead
