    Default Questions about Ram upgrades

I guess I should have asked this *before* I purchased the ram but here it goes anyway.

I've heard of stories/rumors that certain laptops are very picky about types (constructions of the ram) and brands of ram that will work in them (even if the specs matched up, ie "ddr sodimm 200 pin"). should i be worried about this? is this a common problem?

    i have a fujitsu s6120. currently i have a 256 stick and a 512 stick in there. both ddr266. yesterday i purchaed a stick of "infineon 512MB PC2700 333Mhz DDR-SODIMM 200 Pin Memory" that is Non-ECC, unbuffered, 2.5V voltage, 64Mx64 organization. The fujitsu site says i need "DDR 266 so-DIMM, 200 pin SDRAM".

i figure i will combine the new ddr333 stick with my old 512 ddr266 stick. will there be an imcompatibility problem with the speeds? and how can i tell if a stick of ram will work for me before i buy it (assuming i dont buy it straight from fujitsu)?

    looking forward to replies

It should work. It will just downclock to 266MHz like your older module.

There is no way to be 100% sure of compatibility. But usually going with the well trusted and tried brands tends to yield haigh satisfaction rates.
