I'm thinking about buying this instead of an expensive gaming notebook, but I have a question:
Is the ZM-80 processor really such a bottleneck? I mean, does it bottleneck CPU intensive games like E:TW or Crysis?

Also, can someone PLEASE post pictures of gaming on the display.

The AMD cpus actually tend to do better than Intel CPUs in games, because of the integrated RAM controller give it much faster access to RAM than Intel. In other programs it may lag Intel performance, because that software isnt capable or designed to use RAM as fast. You can see that AMD cpus are competitive in wPrime which is not a special AMD test, but a better way of making calculations that the superPi method, but software programmers dont code that way, and why when Intel has 80% of the market and cant take advantage of it.

However, with Intels latest cpus they do rock in wPrime, so maybe software coders will wise up.

So could you tell me which CPU is better in games?

The Zm-80 or, a P8600, or a P9500 (incase the AMD one actually beats the P8600...)?

Only reason I'm hesitating is because of the CPU, and the fact that only ZM-80's are available in my nation.

Also, do you think they will release another external graphics solutions, possibly with stronger GPUs?

    Thanks for the answer anyway!

Perform a BIOS update on your Sa3650 to V1.04. Download the ISO from Fujitsu Siemens website, burn the CD and perform the update. After that set SATA mode to legacy mode as told. Then you should be able to install XP.

I've done that but unfortunately I couldn't get XGP to work as it wants to install two unknown devices. A "VGA Device" and a "PCI Device". I think that something like the ATI 3gio driver for XP is needed in order to get XGP working under XP. But I haven't tried that as it was very late yesterday. And then I've reverted to pre-installed VISTA as it is supported by FSC for now.

Perhaps you will be more lucky...

Thank you, I've updated the BIOS via CD (tried doing it in Windows but got lots of errors) and can now confirm that I can install XP (didnt get BSOD anyway).

I am going to try this now but did you try to install the latest drivers from FSC homepage and it still didn't identify the Graphic Booster?

Another thing, I had to revert to AHCI mode when booting into Vista after I checked if I would get BSOD or not (XP installation) because with "Legacy IDE" mode I couldn't boot into Vista, I got BSOD and it just went into a restart loop.

    Edit:

    Clarification -

If you unplug the booster, install XP and then install the drivers, reboot after driver installation and THEN put in the booster, shouldnt it detect it correctly with the drivers installed?

If the booster is plugged in before the drivers are installed it might try to install some generic drivers and mess everything up?

The P9500 is the best of course, as Intel quickly makes up for slow RAM with higher clock frequencies. The P8600 will also easily best the ZM80. I would compare the ZM-80 to more like the T8100 or T5800, P7350, T7400 for gaming. But getting a better CPU is usually of little benefit to FPS in games and any of those wil do fine.

I think there will be several updated XGP boxes as soon as AMD loses the exclusivity rights to the port and cable in a few months. Then Intel notebooks may make use of it and catch on much better. You wont have to get a solution from fujitsu, anyone that makes an XGP box will work.

Hmm, do you think there will be many in the market before 7th month of the year?

I dont know, but I'd imagaine by then the 4870 would be more available. And if it uses the same MXM form factor Fujitsu should have a drop in replacement upgrade. Or could be a simple user upgrade.
