Re: emachine eMD620-5777 upgrades so far!
I'm a electrician and should stick a amp probe to see what im pulling lol but im to lazy.
The old power supply under heavy load or gaming would kick off than kick on after about 1 min. With the new power supply i haven't had any problems. The new power supply is rated at 5.33 amps at 19 volts. I never trust what manufacturers say with there watts rating. But Antec products have always been good.

Re: emachine eMD620-5777 upgrades so far!
so the voltage needs to be exactly the same but the amps are allowed to be higher? And can I use a higher amped + wattage power supply to charge the battery?
Btw, I've tried several programs and all of them except for coretemp are reporting the cores of my 5050e
around 45 degrees celsius. They report the cpu as high as core temp says the cores are. So I'll go with an other program than coretemp because it obviously reports te temp's wrong and coretemp couldnt even read the temps of the stock le2650.

Re: emachine eMD620-5777 upgrades so far!
I think I've got it! My CPU is affraid of reaching its full potential.
Perhaps it has a learning disorder...i don't know. Maybe...just maybe, it has download syndrom (down syndrome).
Hmmm. I tried to find overclocking software that I could use to overclock the CPU just a tad, but I couldn't find one at the moment. I know, I know, I probably shouldn't do it, but I want to see how much more I can get out of it or at least increase the speed to 3.1GHz...somethin like that.
I read on overclock.com forum that someone increased their AMD X2 5600 from 2.9GHz to 3.5GHz. Of course, that was on a desktop, but it would still be nice to do. I'm sure it would probably be way too much for this laptop, especially since I don't have a higher wattage power adapter for support.Last edited by DCSlim; 25th February 2009 at 08:31 PM.

Re: emachine eMD620-5777 upgrades so far!
dcslim its simply impossible to get clocks like that on a laptop. You need much better cooling because you'll probably need to higher the cpu voltage wich increases the temperature a lot (not only the cpu temp) so then this simple heatsink aint enough anymore... And I don't know if its even possible to change the voltage on this mobo...

Re: emachine eMD620-5777 upgrades so far!
hey, I have installed 4 gig of ozc ram,6400 if you find a program, it will OC from the memory , and if not you can change the timing to a faster overall. I also changed the processor too a 5050 athlonx2 its a 2.6 gig dual core big dif over the stock 1.6 single it comes with , also I game and the hottest the cpu was 71c with the cover on . if you know anything about building computers, from what I see in the pics so far there are too many builders using way too much paste on the cpu to heatsink. these are very cheap laptops so to save time and money they builders use pads not paste . use quality paste arctic silver 5 and make it thin as possible . this will transfer heat better ,it is designed to pass heat by thermal conductive micro metal.thinner its applied the better. clean the cpu and heat sink with 99 percent distilled alchohal and clean the heatsink with metal cleaner till shine is bright copper. then use thin layer of quality paste . remount heatsink and have a great laptop for the money ...so fat in my case i have spent 490.00 dollars canadian for the laptop.4 gig memory and also the 5050 processor . any questions get back too me ... still looking for a faster harddrive that is ide take care and have fun

Re: emachine eMD620-5777 upgrades so far!
I bought 2x2gig (4 gig) Patriot PC2-6400 CL5 RAM from Fry's Electronics today. The notebook is an eMachines D620-5777 purchased at Best Buy in late December.
When I attempted to start after installing, the machine would not start, giving an error page that referred to a hardware change. After a second try, and "auto shutdown to avoid hardware damage," I reinstalled the DDR2 2x1gig (2 gig) and after some "software self repair" (it restored some earlier settings, or so it said) the laptop has started and operates normally.
The operating system is Vista Home Basic Service Pack 1. Vista appears to be (it's so referenced on the "system" page) 32 bit. Is there a hardware limit there, or is it just software? Is this a 32 bit machine so it is limited to 3 gig RAM? Will that keep it from taking the Athlon 64 5050e (even though its "stock" processor, the Athlon 2650e is part of the same family)?
I've read this forum, and expected the RAM upgrade to work properly. I also have gotten an Athelon 5050e, which I have not yet installed.
Why did the RAM not work? What can I do to get it to work? What do I need to do to have the processor upgrade work?Last edited by TWK03; 22nd April 2009 at 10:14 PM.
