[br]if they do indeed have a plan what do u think it will consist of? issueing a recall, Getting free repairs or issueing refunds.

I would highly doubt that eMachines will refund any money. I also do not think that a full-blown recall is in order, as the damage mainly is cosmetic, and does not affect the systems actual operation. Recalls are mainly for systems that have flaws that stop the operations of the computer (faulty RAM chips, defective motherboards, etc). However, I do feel that the solution that eMachines will eventually present, and the best solution overall, will be to allow all of the folks with the hinge complaint to have their systems repaired.

[br]I've had my m6809 for about 4 months and have traveled at least 20,000 miles with it and still no crack. I have resigned myself to the inevitable possibility that I will develop a crack eventually, but so far, so good…
This is not a foregone conclusion, as I have done a little less traveling with my system with no problems. As it stands right now, only about 50% of the systems that are responding to the poll are experiencing this problem. Remember also that someone who has had a problem will be much more likely to respond than someone who has not had any issue at all. We have also had only about 60 responses so far. At least 100 votes are needed to ensure the best numbers this forum can post.
The only thing people can do as of now is to have there LCD replaced many people wont opt for that it takes time and theres more of a chance of people getting LCD's with stuck or dead pixels, thats why iam not sending mine in just gonna wait it out. I guess
I'm one of those that did not get the extended warranty. I'll have to wait it out too and hope that emachines come up with something. Has anybody's cracked hinge gotten worst? Mine has remained the same for about two weeks now even with regular use. I'm keeping my fingers crossed hoping that the right hinge doesn't crack too. I have a funny feeling it will appear sooner or later.
I would like to know what 64 bit Athlon notebook is comparable to the M68xx series in features and price. If the M68xx series notebooks are cracking with one day of usage, its time to start looking elsewhere.
I've not yet found a notebook that can match the M68xx in terms of price and features. I think that's why most of us bought it. With this cracked hinge appearing after A DAY??!! That is a bit too much!If emachines still insist that the cracked hinge is only a cosmetic damage or return it every other day for a replacement, then we better tell everybody to stop buying emachines till they fix the problem. [!] Maybe even avoid Gateway since they are the owners of emachines.
