[br]Who posted the vote for another series? I think that, if the problem is with all eMachines lines, and not just the m6xxx line, that the problem is more widespread...by the way, the 6410 is from a very similar shell from Arima.

Hey guys! That would be me(ya know...the other series vote). I had a M5310 with cracked hinges, my previous M6805 had a cracked hinge, and a buddy’s M5312 hinge fell off completely. He’s pis*ed off, but he won’t return it because its not giving him any other problems.

Did the hinge fall off?! Or is the plastic cover the missing piece?

Hopefully a better Model will come out from Emachines that has been redesigned and has a better chassis, or maybe they should just switch ODM's. I wonder if VoodooPC M860 users are getting the Hinge cracks, i dont see any of them mentioning it the M860 by the way uses the same shell From Arima. as the Emachines M6XXX series.

Kcmoore,
I agree with Ajvett. Just return it. You are lucky to still have an option of getting out of this Emachine mess. For most of us, its too late. From my own experience with a bad RAM, from this cracked-hinge issue, and from other similar posts, it seems to me that Emachine notebooks have real shody workmanship. And they compliment that by having lousy service.

Some of the shell parts are after-manufacture add ons. By the results so far, it would seem that certain batches are affected, rather than the whole line.
By the way, I agree that tech support for eMachines has not handled this problem very well. But, let us remember, in most of the cases that this problem has occured, actual function of the machine has not been affected. What about the Dells that spark and catch on fire? What about the HP machines that need to be recalled because of faulty RAM? This is the first problem that has occured with these machines. I would direct my anger at the shoddy tech "support" rather than the machines themselves. I guarantee that HP would not treat its customers this way. For that matter, neither would Dell.
I do not think it is a design flaw, as each and every computer in this line would be affected if it were. It could come down to something stupid, like the torque on one of the assembly robots or on the assembly line set too high. This could result in the checkered results we have seen so far.
I also made this post sticky, as I believe it is important for eMachines owners and prospective owners to know the score.
