Default Which version of the eGPU is the best choice ATM?

So I have read about the eGPU threads and the most recent is around May this year. Just wondering if the PE4H 2.4a have surpassed PE4L 2.1b yet on the opt speed?

PE4H 2.4a's mini HDMI connectors degrade the signal such that it can only reliably transmit pci-e 1.1 signals.

PE4L 2.1b is pci-e 2.0 capable. It's the one to use with your pci-e 2.0 capable T420 to extract maximum performance.

Now when you refer to the mini-hdmi cable, do you mean that if i was to use the card with my x220's monitor it would be degraded? Im looking for a fast solution but am not really concerned with internal monitor support.
PS, I already have the PE4H.

    -thanks

Whether you use the internal or an external display, bandwidth will be a concern. Since PE4L2.1b has twice the bandwidth, it will always be the better solution (compared to current PE4H2.4a). I posted some comparisons here : DIY eGPU experiences
