apac had a pretty good tutorial, but I believe it can change for every computer.

    But apac described it as:
    1. Computer off, connect and power on card
    2. Power on computer, let vga drivers install.
    3. Restart computer, install card firmware (Check to see if there is modded firmware for your card that you should install)
    4. Restart, check for errors. If you have errors, then there is endless possibilities.
    5. For me, I install the 1.x and chainload.

Note: I haven't gotten it to work yet, but I'm almost there. I had the computer recognize the monitors that were attached to the graphics card, but it wouldn't output to them. Gotta retry some stuff.

    Good Luck!

I've been reading around and looking at people's builds, and it seems like one of the most popular card is the GTX460.

When I impulse bought my setup (I'll admit, I was a little on the drunk side) I didn't really research the graphics card all too well and bought a GTX465. As I understand, this is not nearly as good as the 460 (from what the 'GTX460 vs GTX465' google search tells me.

But my worry is that as each failed attempt at setting up my card, I get a little more nervous that this card won't work with the eGPU stuff.

    Any thoughts?

    Thanks!

Thanks for the help, I'm at work but I'll try it when I get home.
If you do a build up guide, i've love to post it in my blog. Let me know if you do decide to, PM me or something.

Re: Yuuma's internal screen point in their google doc

'Couldn’t get the output of the external graphic card on the internal screen. Means Optimus is somehow only partially working?!'

What could have caused this? How would one rectify it?

    thanks

I got my E6520 today and unfortunately it requires compaction. The bad part about that is that compaction causes the system to hang, even with a devcon.txt. If I select "compact all devices", the system hangs immediately. If I say to just compact the GPU, windows hangs on startup.

    Below is my devcon file:

What exactly is WWAN used for? Can I take it out and use that slot with a PM3N so I don't have to sacrifice built in Wifi?

WWAN = Wireless Wide Area Network, so basically the same as WLAN except intended for a 'Wide' rather than a 'Local' network.
So if you take that out you lose the ability to use the internet over cellular networks.. which doesn't seem too bad as you most likely use the eGPU when at home/on a normal network.
MSI GX640 upgraded to 8GB of RAM (up from 4GB), Ati Mobility Radeon 5870 (up from 5850), Intel Postville 80GB (instead of an optical drive)
