Try opening the case to gain access to the fan assembly and clean the the dissipator grill, which tends to accumulate quite a lot of dust and eventually gets obstructed. I usually remove the fan from the assembly so that I can reach inside more easily. You can use compressed air to blow any remaining dust outwards. This should do the trick and I recommend every laptop owner to do this once every year or so.

Let us know if this helps. If not, there are other things you can try (e.g. replacing thermal paste, copper thermal conductor, etc).
I went ahead and did everything you said. I cleaned the vent. It was really bad like you would have to clean lent tray from dryer after 3 loads of clothes to dry. The old thermal paste has been replaced with arctic silver five.

on idle, the cpu gets as low as 54 degrees C, On load(counter strike with 60 players), it gets to 79 degrees celcius and holds for 30 minutes.

58.6 FPS OMG 4.6x improvement from 12.1. I love you for suggesting to clean computer yearly.

Taking the laptop apart was really a hassle but worth the extra fps.

    Good news for futur vidock!

Intel Ivy Bridge chipset, that will come next year, will support thunderbolt ''natively''.

Intel to support USB 3.0 alongside Thunderbolt, coming with Ivy Bridge in 2012 -- Engadget

If HWtools can build a nice thunderbolt adapter, we could do some nice graphic perf.

Well I went all out to try to break 11k 3dmark06 and got the following:

1% higher fsb/pci-e makes the pci-e unstable and slower due to the needed error correction. OCing the 460 does practically nothing. Raising CPU multi to 11.5 would require an overvolt. If only optimus worked with an internal NVIDIA card

It shows error 12 and I tried the mehod you gave but I do not know if I am doing it correctly, but I did my best to follow it and the confusing thing to me was the video hd sound thing. I did not know which video card sound but the sound I only disabled was the sound of the comp.

I have an Acer Aspire 8930g and it seems that it could work with a x2 1.0 link.

The PCIe port config is as follows:

    PCI-E 1.0 x1 port #1 In Use @ x1 (Atheros AR8121/AR8113/AR8114 PCI-E Ethernet Controller)

    PCI-E 1.0 x1 port #2 Empty

    PCI-E 1.0 x1 port #4 In Use @ x1 (Intel WiFi Link 5100 AGN)

    PCI-E 1.0 x1 port #5 Empty

I moved the internal mPCIe card and it showed up as:
    "PCI-E 1.0 x1 port #3 In Use @ x1 (Intel WiFi Link 5100 AGN)".

Port 5 is the internal cardreader and I suppose that port 2 is the expresscard slot but I cannot confirm since I don't have a card to try out with. I guess this means that Acer Asprice 8930g should be able to do a x2 1.0 link with the two internal mPCIe ports, as they are on port 3 and 4.

Also to add, Aspire 8930g has the PM45 chipset so it doesn't have any integrated graphics which I suppose means it can't use the Optimus option. Just removed my MXM-card, just to confirm that there was no integrated grapchics, and booted up but no picture showed up on either internal or external monitor.

    /Sam

Out of curiosity, how does this compare to if I was using the card in a PC?
Will I get roughly the same performance?

depending if you are using the x1link or x2link it is close to the same as if it was in a desktop. Earlier in the forum there is a better answer. Right now I am trying to use this with my laptop, but so far it is not working for me because of that code 12 error and I tried the setup 1.x and it gives me problems like cannot find grdlr when I boot in diy vidock.
