My x220 can detects gtx560ti. But it always shows me using HD3000.
FPS had increased, but the score is very low.

So just a question about the performance loss associated with EGPUs: what is the percent loss compared to a desktop setup in an Optimus 1.2x link using a GTX 560? Looking at my benchmarks I am seeing a maybe 10% differential with comparable desktop models - does that sound right?

Did you install the modified Optimus drivers linked to on the first page of this thread?

If so, try going into the NVIDIA Control Panel then selecting Programs -> Select SFIV -> Use GTX 560. Also in Global Power Options you should select maximum performance and max performance in Windows Power Options.

Yes, i modified the nvae.inf and i am using the internal LCD.
Control panel indicated that gpu activated on SFIV although it showed using HD3000.
Anyway, the FPS performance had improved (original fps 16).

The Internal LCD is probably the culprit. If you output to an external monitor only you will recoup lost fps.

After windows completed booting up you have to put your laptopin suspend. Then reconnect the egpu, turn it on and start the laptop. Now it is proberly connected and now install the driver and after a reboot you can enjoy the new GPUPower.

    I have a X230 with:
    I5 3320
    4 GB Ram
    500 GB HDD
I tried it but no success. I have 16GB Ram and 256GB SSD. I think about what i read here that the memory is the problem.

If i boot with egpu everything is sooo slow. But egpu still is not working. in device manager it is shown as working but i cant get it to work so it is displaying anything

So I have been hearing a LOT about the gorgeous Korean 1440p monitors coming out lately over ebay and other distributors and I have been very interested in trying one with my eGPU setup.

Is there any reason a Catleap wouldn't work with a Lenovo T430s hooked up at 1.2x Optimus link with a GTX 560? I mean I would be thrilled with 60Hz performance, but is there any chance I can get one of the overclocked monitors and have acceptable performance on the GTX 560?

If anyone has tried this with an egpu setup I would love to hear their experience.

    Hello guys
I am a bit confused with jargon in the first post. Could anyone advise whether my Thinkpad W510 can use eGPU? if yes, which one is better, PE4L or PE4H?
W510 only comes with unswitchable graphics " NVIDIA Quadro FX 880M with 1GB"
The system is 64 bit Win 7, and 6 G RAM.
    Thanks..

In practice, how are most of you guys using your eGPUs? With the internal display, or the external?

I was thinking about getting a cheap-ish small laptop (probably HP 2560p) and an eGPU to hook up to my TV and then be able to take it with me traveling. But from poking through the benchmarks here, it looks like the penalty via x1.2Opt for the internal display is still pretty severe, yeah? I wouldn't necessarily mind bringing a portable monitor with me when I travel (e.g. something like this) but most portable monitors are USB-only and the ones that have real video inputs seem to suffer from bad input lag.

Do you guys mostly use these at home, or just suffer the performance hit to use the internal display?

If you have an internal 1280x800 monitor then it will be just fine!
For my Z which a full-HD panel, I still can play skyrim with maxed out setting at native resolution with my internal monitor, but I can't expect anything higher than 48fps even with a better GPU.
Looks like it's the bandwidth cap. The average fps should is arround 30 then.
