Re: DIY ViDock - My experiences so far
Can anyone confirm if the new Kepler cards are supported in the optimus tweak? Is Optimus still "locked" with this cards?

Re: DIY eGPU experiences
So I hooked up my GPU to two 6-pin connectors as you'd mentioned and also in your pictures. the first 6-pin is from the power supply, while the second 6-pin is split to two 4-pins which are also plugged in.
The problem is that the card is still not getting detected by my system :/ I've tried hotplugging and full boots again.. still to no avail. Gah.. not sure what else to do at this point. Does anyone have any experience with this situation?

Re: DIY eGPU experiences
The Bios fix for the X230 was released on 15th.
I could get my GTX 460 partially to work. Devicemanager is getting device ready.
But I cant get a picture out of it. With newest drivers and with older verde driver with nvram fix.
Anyone got a clue. Everything worked fine with X201. Still a Lenovo bug or am I doing something wrong?

Re: DIY eGPU experiences
When you mean fail to boot and loop, does it reboot into windows? (You press the power button, it turns on, and suddenly shuts down and turns on again into windows) I'm not exactly an expert, but I believe lenovo's workaround to the TOLUD problem is to reboot at startup with a modified BIOS.2. If I try to boot laptop with the expresscard plugged in, it will fail to boot and loop at a black screen.
3. Occasionally when I reboot, I get an error screen with 4 lines of short text. I forget what it says, but it happens if I have things plugged in USB. I'll take note of what it says next time. I have to hold power button down and turn on again after that.
And the sometimes it say something like "BIOS settings have changed since last time windows has started?" (I don't exactly remember the exact wording but this happens to me if I remove the eGPU and hibernate the computer)
If that's happening your laptop is working fine, I am mainly just concerned about this
I think it would be better to just uninstall the ATI 3470 and set it to Auto-detect, since you want it to be used on an internal monitor now.
For 8GB Ram, have you tried turning on the eGPU and plugging it into the computer before startup?Last edited by laststandb; 17th August 2012 at 01:10 PM.

Re: DIY eGPU experiences
@Lacan
To use your egpu you have to power on you laptop with the egpu running and connected then after the bios screen unplug the egpu. After windows completed booting up you have to put your laptopin suspend. Then reconnect the egpu, turn it on and start the laptop. Now it is proberly connected and now install the driver and after a reboot you can enjoy the new GPUPower.

Re: DIY eGPU experiences
I have the PE4H and the PM3N hooked up to my Toshiba Satellite L655 through the mPCI-E port for the wireless adapter, and Windows doesn't seem to detect the video card. I've tried with both a GeForce 9800GTX+ and some kind of old Radeon card whose model number I'm not entirely sure of, both to no avail. The fan on the video card starts when I boot the laptop, but I can't find the card in Device Manager, and the Nvidia driver setup wasn't able to detect it, either. (I haven't tried installing drivers for the Radeon yet.) LEDs 1 and 2 on the PM3N and LEDs 1-3 on the PE4H turn on as they should. I have the PE4H and the video card connected to my 500W desktop power supply right now, so I don't think power is a problem. I have also tried connecting the video card both before and after turning the computer on. Any ideas on how to get the card detected?
EDIT: Now having attempted the standby trick, it seems that my laptop turns off as soon as I try to boot it if I have the PE4H plugged in and properly powered (i.e. if I have the laptop connected to the PM3N connected to the PE4H connected to the ATX power supply). This doesn't happen if I have everything connected except the PSU to the PE4H, and nothing happens if I try connecting the fully powered setup to the laptop after I press the power button. Setting the delay switches to 3 on both the PM3N and the PE4H has no effect.Last edited by Erithom; 17th August 2012 at 09:44 PM.

Re: DIY eGPU experiences
Is it possible, to use a kz-b22 with a PE4L-PM060A, and still achieve PCI-E 2.0 speed? Is there anyone who tried it?

Re: DIY eGPU experiences
I made an enclosure out of a cardboard box, and it works great. Look crappy, but is functional.
