Re: ->The official post about your new Dell notebook thread.<-
have had my 1505 (1.83 GHz, ATI x1300, 1 Gb RAM) for over 4 months. very happy with it, especially given the price i paid (around USD800). i still have an excitement every time i use it
the only thing is - keyboard seems a bit fragile, I try to be careful while typing, or maybe cause it's my first notebook.
few weeks ago my 1.5 year old was able to "peel" off CAPs lock button and quickly ran away after doing that
- but I put it back and it works fine.

Sureshot, M1210's with your config and the Cuore 2 Duo are around $1500 currently. Once you pile on the additional memory, HD, etc. it quickly adds up.

Not really...Dell Home is asking for almost $500 more if I remember correctly. And $1999.00 is AFTER tax and shipping!

I think his setup actually costs around $1700...but i might be wrong.

I'll pay the $40 to keep it all in Dell...now if they charged $100+ that would be a different story.

I just hope the build quality is good enough to last 3 years...

Well, here's the additionals to my setup (EPP)
-DVD-RW
-Bluetooth
-Soundblaster Audigy (software)
-3Yr @home Warranty (not ADP)
$1,245 after tax/shipping (not including a $100 Dell giftcard for buying the 3yr warranty)
I was actually pretty happy with my 700m but this was such a killer deal that I had to act. I wanted the A/V webcam and RAM upgrades but they would have pushed it out of my price range, and I REALLY wish the core 2 duo was available when I ordered (it's only been 2 months). Oh well, maybe the motherboard will be able to support quad core when it comes out

E1705 w/ Core 2 duo t7200 being built!
Well i bit the bullet late last night and ordered a e1705 with the t7200 core 2 duo over the phone! Cant wait, i have a ship date of Sept. 12 which isnt too bad considering it was just released yesterday. I know the early adopter usually pay the price premium but i got to use the 20% off coupon and when i called in and used my DPA to purchase and got an additional $50 rebate. On top of that if i find a similarly spec'd competitors system at a lower price i can get another $50 off mine! Here are my specs:
Intel® Core™ 2 Duo processor T7200 (4MB Cache/2.00GHz/667MHz FSB)
Genuine Windows® XP Media Center Edition 2005
17 inch UltraSharp™ Wide Screen UXGA Display with TrueLife™
1GB Shared Dual Channel DDR2 SDRAM at 533MHz
256MB NVIDIA® GeForce™ Go 7900 GS
80GB 5400RPM SATA Hard Drive
8x CD/DVD burner (DVD+/-RW) with double-layer DVD+R write capability
Intel PRO/Wireless 3945 Internal Wireless and Bluetooth
2Yr Ltd Warranty, 2Yr At-Home Service, and 2Yr HW Warranty Support
TOTAL:after taxes, rebates ~$1615
Thats $200 more then the dv8000t i cancelled, but i think its def. worth the money. I also saw a promotion for a free skin thru dell.com/skins, but havent tried it yet, do they have any nice skins on that site?
Thanks to all for the help

Re: E1705 w/ Core 2 duo t7200 being built!
"similarly specc'd" Don't count on getting that...it has to be the exact same specs.
And other users haven't been able to get the "free" skin free. There's some other charge that makes it 5 bucks or so...
All stuff I've heard, not experienced, mind you.
good price though.STILL ALIVE AND KICKING 5 YEARS LATER:
