No he didn't change your systems, Their system is hosed right now.
Both of my m1210s show as Dimension 8200s, I am told it is being worked on and will be fixed later.

Re: New Dell MediaDirect
Here's a question I don't know if there is even an answer to as of yet. I have a faulty E1505 with MediaDirect2 that is being replaced with a new E1505 with MediaDirect3. I was hoping to just swap my current HD into the new system. In reading the little posted about MD3 it appears that the Partitions are different for MD3... so my concern is that MD3 will not function if I swap in my current hard drive. Anybody know if that's going to be the case? Might there be a workaround that doesn't involve reinstalling Windows? If not I guess I will have to backup the data partition from this drive and reimage the new drive's partition, if possible...
thanks!

Re: New Dell MediaDirect
I got the MediaDirect 3 CD in today. How do I go about installing it without losing my current OS? It keeps telling me the hard drive is not prepared. I deleted the old mediadirect partition so now there is space for the install...but alas no go. Any ideas?

Re: New Dell MediaDirect
Because someone is undoubtedly wondering, the size of the MediaDirect 3.0 partition on new Dell laptops is 2047MB, according to the Windows Installer. MediaDirect 2.0 only used 1443MB by default. In addition, MD3 did not come hidden in the HPA (this was on a Toshiba drive, I can't speak for any other manufacturers).

Re: New Dell MediaDirect
I had the same issue. I used Ghost to image the main partition off to a file on another PC, used the MD3 disc (bootable) to set up the partitions automatically, imaged the main partition back, and all went fine.
It sets up a 47 meg tools partition at the beginning (unknown type), a main partition of all free space in the middle (NTFS), and a 2055 meg partition at the end for mediadirect (FAT32). Not sure exactly what its looking for on the install (partition types, MBR settings, names, etc) so figured it was easier to just ghost it off and back and let the MD3 DVD do all the setup.
First boot takes a while due to windows having to adjust some stuff with the partition changes, but after that it works perfect. Then just install MD3 via windows by inserting the DVD.
Worked like a charm here.
By the way it looks like MD3 is maintained by Cyberlink, as the updates link takes you to their site. So maybe they have an image hiding on there somewhere, but its pretty big so prob not. But they seem to be the creators, not dell.
